String of Hearts is one of my favorite indoor plants in my collection. Growing your chain of hearts to make it fuller and lusher, comes down to the basic care needs. In this video I share with you my care tips and secrets on how to care and grow the String of Hearts, everything from the lighting, watering and soil medium requirements to the different propagation methods I do to help promote a nicer, fuller and thicker String of Hearts.

In Australia, where this plant is actually native, you need to grow it in a *North* facing window if growing indoors. Sometimes people forget there's a whole southern half of the planet called the Southern hemisphere 😵‍💫

1st time plant owner here & we have 3 special, very meaningful string of hearts babies that we got as beautiful gifts from a really wonderful friend of ours.. 🪴 Thank you so much for your video & advice on how to look after these plant babies 🙏🏾 Our string of heart babies has a very special job ahead of them, once their established.. Will be sprinkling a little bit of our very beloved pets ashes into each of them so our beloved sweet Benji Baby will still grow & thrive through our plant babies.. Our Benji Baby was always full of love to any1 and every1 especially to kids, literally to the end of his time & we feel that these string of hearts plant babies are him all over, just in plant versions of him.. They surround his ashes now as babies until they grow big, they'll be like his own little beautiful curtains 🪴🐶💖

Mine is currently flowering and I've only had her since February. When I got her she was completely in the pot and now she's really long 😍. Not as long as yours though Christian. Hopefully one day soon. She really likes my west facing window even with the overhang outside. I will say to anyone that can get to San Diego California. If you want a string of hearts there are places here you can get them for a reasonable price. Cordova Gardens in Encinitas has 6 inch pots for 18bucks(last I checked) and they do carry variegated. I bought my two small variegated pots for 10bucks each there. I've also seen regular soh sold at Kobe's Swap Meet for 25 for a 6inch. Hope that helps someone. I know online prices can get crazy. Spread the plant love peeps 🌱🚿✌🏼

@@-Annn- Hello, I believe you can have them at that distance with a grow light. Probably not with regular lighting unless you have very bright light in that location. It absolutely loves being outside but does just fine for me over winter. I also have a Silver Glory and Variegated SOH. Everyone told me before buying them that they go dormant during the winter, but all of my SOH continue to grow pretty well through the winter.

That was great, Christian. If I ever find and buy a string of hearts plant, I will be referring to this video to refresh my memory about how to care for it. You are creating a great library for everyone. Thank you again. 💖💖💖💖💖💖 Right now I"m struggling with a Peperomia "Ruby Cascade" who is shedding leaves and whose stems are rotting. I'm not discouraged, though, because I have learned so much from your videos about what may be causing the problem and what I can try to reverse it, including propagation.

I just got one, and am new to plants. Can it sit in a windowsill with the vines hanging down, vines away from the window, or does the whole plant need to get more sunlight than that?

I live in a north facing apartment / with north facing windows. However I live in on the 4th floor and we get good bright lighting inside the rooms from the level we are at, great natural light. I just ordered my SOH I hope they thrive! Also got a growth light just in case.
