When you were doing the organic co-op in Houston, I wondered if you would start growing your own safe/healthy food because being self-sufficient is part of the raw vegan lifestyle. Here you are. Absolutely beautiful home-grown food. Thanks for your example.

Thanks for sharing!! The key for me in growing microgreens is the soil. The wrong soil can lead to mold, I would love it if you would share the exact brand of soil that you use. I started using coconut coir which helps prevent mold, but the growth ends about 10 days.

There is also the system of growing microgreens in organic, untreated felt, for those of us who live in tiny apartments in places like New York city for example. Also because we're northern hemisphere dwellers, artificial light is unfortunately the way to go but the results are equally good👍👍👍

You can grow microgreens in trays without soil. Look up Hydroponic microgreens in trays. My friend grows it in the house.
@eileenwatt82833 жыл бұрын
How nutritious is it without all the minerals. I've see school kids grow beans in wet tissue papers. I doubt if it has any nutrients.
@salsamink3 жыл бұрын
Eileen Watt u r right. But not everyone has the green space or resources we have, and I feel something is better than nothing. But the same way that we take liquid mineral supplements that’s the same way my friend waters her microgreens. She adds it to the plant’s water. Sometimes I also wonder with all the natural resources this youtuber has, why she advertises so much those pill/liquid supplements she takes, when I’m sure she can get them from the food resources she has available. But u r right good natural soil has way more nutrients, but that will also depend in the city and location someone is planting because sometimes the soil itself is not good quality or contaminated. Thanks for your respond, that is good info to think about. Will bring that up to some of my microgreen growers.

After you finish eating a tray can you reuse the same soil to replant again? And how long will each tray last if you don't eat everyday

I'm looking forward to getting back to growing microgreens and sprouts. I'm slowly transitioning back to more raw foods and consuming lots of sprouts is going to help. Plus they taste yummy. No more spending 8 or 9 bucks for a tiny size tray, except to support my local small biz owner once in a while.

thank you for sharing this info. would I be able to use lentils and chickpeas from the store for planting microgreens?
Thank you, I ordered some seeds. But my question is what do I do with the soil and remaining seeds after the harvest. I am not a gardener. Can I reuse the soil? Should I get rid of it? Can dump in my local park? Sorry for silly questions, but I really have no experience with this.

I have the same question!

I googled it! -->After you harvest, microgreens do not grow back. For a continuous supply, you can reuse the soil by turning it over. Sprinkle seeds, and cover with another layer of soil. The roots from the previous crop will have created a mat that will eventually compost itself, says Fitzpatrick, “so it's all very self-sustaining.”
