I'm sure it will rot if left in the water.... may try moss to see if it will continue to live... its been about a month now. Any suggestions?

It’s a big LIE, I don’t know why people get on here and waste their time making videos based off of absolute lies, you cannot successfully grow a baby orchid from a stem cutting of a flower spike, it’s impossible, baby orchids can grow on flower spikes, but only while it is still connected to the mother, and the mother has to sustain the life of its child until it is time to cut the baby orchid off, however, it is impossible, absolutely impossible, scientifically, to grow a baby orchid from a stem cutting itself, and by itself, so please don’t waste your time. I don’t know why these people do this it’s not funny.

She left a comment saying it didn't work. She just didn't pin the comment, so it isn't at the top. I'm assuming the potting soil was the issue. Orchids don't live in that.

Can you use sugar
@GetMoreMellow Жыл бұрын
I think no, don't use sugar. Don't know about using things like honey, you may though attract enough flies to capture for a hearty meal, alternatively you can give the plant a pizza or bacon and eggs. People saying lots of unheard of stuff, but if it is real why not prove it by putting a video up to show that you are not bulls----ing.

@RayenJStrxnge3 жыл бұрын
It hasn't got thorns they're the flower nodes.
@VibeWithLuna2 жыл бұрын
have you ever seen an orchid? Because each flower that grows has those, even the stem under the flowers has them where you can peel them back to encourage new growth. As the other commenter said, flower nodes. That's what they look like after the flowers fall off. I actually have a double spiked one sitting right in front of me that looks like that, I have not cut off the stems yet though because the flowers fell off prematurely after I got orchid spray food on the blooms & the stems are not drying yet & they each have other spikes growing off of them still. But that's exactly what they look like.

I believe it's because you used regular soil & not sphagnum moss or coconut chips. Orchids don't really like regular soil. Also, sometimes the honey can be more likely to produce mold & make it rot, aloe vera can be used in replacement.
@luvtrump86582 жыл бұрын
It should work. I would use moss as a growing and leave the stem on then mother plant. Tie the wet moss onto a node and keep it moist. Should grow roots. Try again sister.
@dw34032 жыл бұрын
@@VibeWithLuna Just saw a clip of the stem without honey put into a floral oasis. She also took the sheath off of the nubs on the lower stems and put a gel hormone on them. Put them in a plastic box. After 2 weeks she had some starts. I am going to assume vermiculite and pumice would probably work also. If kept damp and not wet. The soil would introduce all sorts of problems in a green house type setting.

It actually is an orchid stem. You're probably thinking the flower nodes are thorns. But you're right an orchid will not grow in regular soil, which is probably why it didn't work (she left a comment that said it didn't).

idk why so many people thought the flower nodes were thorns as if they have never seen an orchid.... maybe because she used soil & orchids don't grow in regular soil. But still, those are the flower nodes.
