It can be a challenge to grow orchids in hot climate but it is not impossible. With a bit of planning and a little adjustment to the care routine you can grow beautiful orchids in extrene hot conditions. Few care tips are

1. Select orchids which are nsturally suited for hot climate such as vandas,cattleyas, dendrobium, phalaenopsis and even oncidiums
2. Shade your orchids to protect them from the scorching heat. Consider erecting a green house or a shade house
3. Your orchids may need frequent watering in hot climate. Soak them in water for about 1 hour to saturate the roots
4. Humidity is a crucial factor for maintaining the health of orchids inhot climate. Place humidity trays or use a humidifier. Ensure good air circulation around your orchids to dissipate heat from around your orchids.
5. Continuously monitor your orchids for any pest or disease or any other issue and attend accordingly.
6. Select big pots which will hold more media and subsequently more moisture. This will enhance the humidity of the area where your orchids are placed.Consider using clay pots which helps indrying out water from the media. This can protect your orchids from root rot due to over accumulation of water as you will be watering orchids frequently.

Ur from which part of India I live in mumbai. My oncidium haven't flowered yet. Can u suggest some orchid please

My area is has a tropical climate which is where orchids get their best conditions to grow. Mumbai has a tropical climate too but with lesser rainfall and very high temperatures during mid summer. Please try the below: 1) Keep the orchids in shade 2) When it is very hot - mist the orchids 3) Water them daily since rain is less than usual tropical areas 4) Fertilize regularly during summer and winter Some orchids you can grow in your climate: 1) Cattleyas 2) Dendrobiums 3) Vandas 4) Phalaenopsis

There can be variety of reasons for orchids not flowering. If you could share details of the oncidium that has not bloomed, may be I cud get a better idea

Oncidiums need bright shaded sunlight and moderate humidity. Water them when media is almost dry. If oncidiums donot get enough light they may not bloom. Check the colour of the leaves. If they are dark green, may be you need to shift them to a more lighted area. Keep them safe from direct sunlight always.
