The outside roots are turning very white and drying out and dying. That’s why there aren’t as many flowers as you see on other KZbinr’s channels. I don’t know too many people who don’t fertilise their plants or water. The last plant she shows has a leaf that is struggling, perhaps from dehydration or malnutrition.

I have been working with orchids in water culture for a few yrs (since 2019). I look for ones that are distressed or in need of TLC. I started out removing the container & soil medium & transitioning them to water culture with lava rock as support. Orchids are mostly an air plant - growing on tree trunks in forests. I realized the ones I was working with were being smothered by the rocks covering the crowns, and roots were overexposed to the water base.
