Excuse me sir may I ask if you placed the pear seeds in the refrigerator then when they sprouted in soil , am I damaging the plant ? The plant is turning dark I don't know what to do I placed in an area with a lot of sun light (I live in Philippines , Davao )
@LuckyDogTraveler
@LuckyDogTraveler Жыл бұрын
Sorry, not sure I understand your actual question. Stratification, if necessary, will not damage the seed or the plant. I don't know why your plant is turning dark. I believe hot humid climates are not good for growing pears. I live in thailand, with a similar climate to yours. I did not try to grow the trees, I only grew the seeds. I suggest you do an internet search for more information about growing pear plants in a tropical climate.

I wanna have my own seed grown trees of my favourite fruit when I have my own house with a huge garden (life goal) so I've started lemon, orange and pear. Lemon and orange I think are in 2-3 years old. Orange is doing well, lemon seems much slower. Actually grew the most over winter indoors weirdly. Pear I obviously just started this week. I'm thinking peach and plums. There's very nice variety of peaches, I think from north Africa. Tastes like mango almost. I'm gonna try those. Any suggestions? Fingers crossed in 5-10 years🙏🏻

You're the one that should be making videos! Sounds like you've got an amazing fruit orchard. I can only grow the seedling and then have to give them away. ;-( Sadly I have no room in my tiny urban garden - though I do keep some in pots for as long as possible. As for suggestions - I don't know your climate zone so I'd just say grow what you like to eat and whatever does well in your corner of the planet. Plz comment back with updates!

@@LuckyDogTraveler hehe I wish, I'm growing in pots as you are. Maybe if I ever buy a house with a big garden, my little plants I'm starting now, will be ready by then 🙏🏻😇 Oh yes, I'm in the UK, so not the best place. However you do get varieties of some fruit that can grow here that otherwise wouldn't. Where are you? :)

If I’m using a store bought pear from my grocery store do I need to put the seeds in the fridge first, or can I do the warm paper towel method?
@LuckyDogTraveler
@LuckyDogTraveler 3 жыл бұрын
To the best of my knowledge unless the store you bought them from indicates they are locally grown and/or newly harvested, pears are refrigerated during importation and/or storage. Therefore, you do *not* need to "stratify" them in the refrigerator and can use the moist paper towel method. I'd be curious to know how it came out, so please comment again! That depends on your environment, of course: hot, humid, dry, rainy? And are you talking about the seedlings, or full grown trees? I kept the seedlings moist, but never saturated, and let the soil dry out a bit between watering.

@Karwyn & Antonio Memories What's with the constant trolling? Why the heck does it matter so much to you to get your point across? Are you a PAID troll then? Asian pears are either a genus or just pears that grow in Asia. Whatever - whether an Asian pear or not, this method is tried and tested constantly and works extremely well for most, if not all pears and many other fruits, vegetables and plants in general. @Lucky Dog Traveler DOES know what he's talking about - I'm a pro, so I should know! Butt out, find yourself a hobby to keep you occupied and off these helpful videos. Go harrass someone that deserves it!
