I have volunteer redbud tree seedlings all over my backyard. My original tree is about 20 years old, and it didn't start reseeding itself until just recently.

@@ABskywalker they can be transplanted if you want to move them. They key is to dig them when they are small and dig deep to get all the root. They are tougher to transplant successfully when they get larger. You probably have a lot of birds in your garden!

@@Growingthehomegarden I do have a lot of birds. I'm going to save one of the volunteers for my daughter. She bought a home and could use a nice redbud.

Do you sell the trees you grow? What are the best trees to start off with when getting in selling them?

That's a good question. I don't currently sell plants but did so a few years ago and hope to get back into it again. For selling trees you can go a couple routes. Sell trees that people really like to buy in bulk. Trees that are screening trees usually sell well in multiples (Arborvitae is one type: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aamagZmGpd-tj5I). Or you could go the specialty tree route. Japanese maples are popular. Other trees like crape myrtles sell well too. Native trees are becoming popular and can often be easily grown from seed. Hunters love trees that produce food for deer like persimmons. There are a lot of ways to go. When starting off I would recommend finding a good niche that you enjoy and becoming the expert at that. Just make sure it is something sellable.
