I grew these in a glass bowl and kept the bowl going for over 6 months so that I could build a Betty tank. It was fun. I did use a heater tho. I didn’t use anything but water, aquatic soil, heat, and a sunny window. Once they grew I filled it with water and added a bubbler for a cute little water garden.

I grew these inside a vase about the size of a large pickle jar and planted a java plant (forgot the name). No filter and no heater, just added 3 cherry shrimp. We are on about day 5 with the cherry shrimp and they seem to be loving it! Planning to do 5 or 10% water changes about every two weeks and see how it goes. The "carpet" plant grows tall and the shrimp love hanging out in it😀

@@mochi8060 I don't recommend these seeds. They grow crazy fast, and are not "carpet" as advertised. They grew so much that I couldn't see anything inside the glass "vase" fish bowl. I ended up scooping out the shrimp and yanking the whole mess of growth by the roots and starting over in a new tank.

@@JakeSlater Really? SOME aspects of being an aquarist require caution and patience and personally, I think she achieved the right balance. In over 30 years I had given up on seeds and just used potted aquarium plants and cultures; that is until I saw this! I have 5 small plastic containers with green buds sprouting all over the place and in about 5 more days they will be transplanted into my Fluval Flex aquarium that houses my Plakat Betta. Should look pretty cool when it's all done.

In my country (Malaysia), some or most of the "aquascapers" called the seeds as a "seed scam" lol. I can't deny that the seeds are sometimes wrongly labeled or probably not a fully Aquatic plant (I'm not sure in this part), but it's indeed slightly cheap. However, I don't recommend if you're setting up for a main display tank or something. And agreeing to your statement, the seeds are not easily to germinate, which most people find it difficult. What to expect if you don't know what you're doing isn't it? For the tissue culture part, tissue culture is actually cheap for the amount of plants you receive. However, it's quite delicate and for an unstable tank, it can highly reduce the chance in growing them For potted plants, are affordable, might be slightly expensive (depend on species), but it's stable since the plants are already big, and rooted. But that doesn't count for the plants whether it's emmerse or submerge before.

I started those same seeds in a 29 gallon tank adding water after they were well sprouted. Carpeted the entire tank beautifully. Seeds seem to be a mix of several varieties of plants. Unfortunately they quickly grew way too large to be a carpeting type plant and over time I allowed them to die off by not offering any nutrition. If you're going to try some from seeds then I would suggest you use a small container and keep the plants under control in your tank to avoid something you'll likely have to remove later.

Unfortunately, these types of plants, after germinating in a normal environment, usually don’t adapt well to underwater conditions. They can survive underwater for a couple of weeks but then die quickly. I’ve tried several times, and I was successful only once. That time, I decided to submerge of the plants into a plastic box fill off tank water, close the lid for 2-3 months. They stopped growing but stayed alive. After that, I placed them in my tank. Half of them are still alive now, not thriving, but surviving for the past 3 months (at least, I hope so).

Then I tried using same soil sprinkled in the seed heavily and topped with a light layer of sand, filled with water and planted some stems, threw in my betta for fert and now am waiting. We'll see if they grow under water.

I used the leafy dwarf grass, ling hair and dwarf hair grasses from Amazon. Poured them right into my already established tank. All I have is lava rock at the bottom of the tank. I use api leaf zone. Two days later I got off work and the leaves already formed and turning green. The long hair grass was already 3 inches tall 2 days later in my vampire crab terrarium. The short hair grass im.not sure. Haven't checked it in 3 days. It will probably just blend in with the long hair grass. My crab tank does have fluval stratum, crab poop and neo shrimp poop as fertilizer though. My fish tank has 2 mollies, 2 guppies, a small pleco and a baby red eared slider.

@slobrodepot2163 Жыл бұрын
@@giangpham8499 What's the scientific name of this plant? Why isn't that the beginning and end of the conversation? This isn't some undiscovered never been seen before plant. Like with every other plant you'll ever buy, this plant has been thoroughly studied by scientists and the parameters for taking care of it are very clearly defined and public. Knowing the ACTUAL NAME of the plant is the gateway to learning about it and that's why you wont find it anywhere in this video or any for sale postings. If they told you what it actually was you'd be able to just look it up and find out immediately it isn't an aquatic plant. When you buy plants anywhere else you don't say, give me that purple thing, or give me some of those "inexpensive seeds," you say "give me a French Hydrangea" or "I want a Golden Barrel Cactus." Why? because you care enough to spend money on it and (usually) that means you've read about how to take care of it. Don't be fooled by the "update" video either. It could be replanted, they could drain the tank so the plant grows normally then refill it for the video, or most likely, just take a video one or two days later then upload it at the "8th month mark". Look, you buy cheap, you're gonna buy twice, and when the ammonia bomb goes off in your tank from all the plants dying, you're gonna buy new fish too.
