Thank you! This is a good source of learning. I've been growing different kinds of peppers from seeds from my kitchen. What I learned from your video: when to transplant the seedlings and what true leaves are as oppose to seed leaves. I kept my seedlings in pots indoors for several months because I didn't have a garden yet, but they grew happily. Once in the garden they produced fruit. I've just subscribed because I like the way you teach. Thank you again!

Thank you so much for uploading this video. Sorry I am arriving late to the party, but having installed a greenhouse over the winter I feel I am now in a position to grow peppers. We love padron peppers, simply fried and sprinkled with salt, and find it difficult to buy them locally, so with our new greenhouse I am keen to grow them. I have had some planted in a shallow seed tray indoors on a sunny windowsill for a couple of months now. I have 8 shoots, about 4-5 cm tall. They reached this size a few weeks ago but don't seem to be growing any further. Now that the weather is heating up the greenhouse regularly gets above 25 degrees during the day and is not going below 12 degrees at night. Should I move the seedlings out to the greenhouse? It is now much warmer out there than in the house. I also noticed you planted your seeds in small pots, should I move mine from a seed tray to a small pot before planting into their final location? Sorry for so many questions.

First move them to the greenhouse as is. After a week transplant into bigger containers

Hello! Thank you for this wonderful video. I’m new to gardening, and was looking specifically for these peppers bc I loved them so much when I travelled to Barcelona, Spain. We unfortunately don’t have them here in Canada. Where did you get the seeds from? Do you know if there is somewhere I can order them online?

Ok, nevermind. I found the same ones you had at reneesgarden.com. So excited!! Love this video, and your updated video as well. Hopefully mine will grow as nicely as yours did!

Thanks for your video. You didn’t water them at all between weeks 0-2 ie until you saw shoots?

The soil needs to stay moist for seeds to germinate so if it was drying I would have listed it. If you cover it in a loose plastic bag watering may not be needed

Hahah, they're supposed to be mild for the most part, with the occasional spicy one in the mix. "Pimentos de Padrón, algunos pican, outros non" is the saying in Spain, which roughly translates to "Padrón peppers: some sting, others don't". That said, I grew them in my greenhouse here in Belgium for the first time last year, and each and every one was spicy. Not California Reaper spicy, obviously. But definitely more spicy than I've ever had them in Spain.

I was told, by a Galician gardener, to only water the soil and not the leaves. Plants watered on their leaves produce fiercer peppers - but then it rains (a lot!) in Galicia so why aren't all Padrónes hotter? My first time growing them in the UK - we shall see!

@@jeffreycrawley1216 good luck. What also plays a role, apparently, is how much water they get. Especially near the end of the season. Plants that get less water supposedly produce hotter peppers. Never heard about not watering the leaves, though. I think what makes mine so hot is I harvest them too late. Padrón peppers are harvested early, when they're still relatively small. Mine are usually quite a bit bigger than the ones I see used in tapas.

You may need to harvest them earlier, also if they dont get a lot of water they get spicier

Hi! What was your potting soil mix?
@EasyPeasyGardening3 жыл бұрын
I generally use 2 parts home made compost, 1 part coco peat and half part perlite
