Immediately subscribed after the laughing at the beginning. That made my day! I bought a smaller Bonnie spider plant last spring and was able to divide it into two plants. After they had time to root and establish more, I transplanted them into leca. After the lovely winter months were over, I started fertilizing them a month ago. I am dying for mine to get as big as yours in the middle. How long have you had that gorgeous plump Bonnie in the middle? That's spider plant goals! Now I feel like I need to move them back into soil.

Hi! Thank your for subscribing! I have had the Bonnie for several years now. I just love her! We found they like soil or Leca. But if you grow in soil get a container just a little bit bigger so the roots feel snug, this helps her produce more babies/pups. 😀🪴

@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN That's awesome! Thank you so much for the container size tip. I'm fairly new to caring for plant babies and have loved learning how different each one is from another. My husband thinks I'm crazy every time I bring a new one home. And maybe I am a little crazy, but only crazy about these plants 😂

@@hhef83 I got my curly spider plant as just an itty bitty tiny baby. This month marks 1 year since having it and it’s actually the same if not even bigger/plumper than the one in this video! And HUGE beautiful curls too. (She just started sprouting her first baby hence why I’m here lol) I use regular indoor potting soil, I recently transplanted from a 4in pot to a 6in, and she’s hanging in my North facing window. I’ve honestly only fertilized (water/fertilizer mix) her maybe 3 times over the year. I’m also new to this, it was my first house plant also and since it’s absolutely flourished I’ve got about 10 more different plants since 🤣

I love this variety! I think it looks great alongside the other varieties, like green or reverse-variegated. It makes a great bedding plant in summer!

Hi Eileen. The purple Violet Queen Spider is rather rare and not so easy to come by in large quantities. I have not grown that plant. It is more of a ground cover type of spider and has nice purple flowers. But now you have me curious and I will call around and see if I can get one out and try out so I can give ya'll some feedback in future. Thanks for the comment!😀🪴

Advice please :( I'm new to house plants and I've had my Bonnie for about a year now. She's still alive, but all of her new leaves are thin and long, more like a traditional spider plant (which makes me sad because I like the fatter, curlier leaves) I moved it near a west facing window in NW CO (so lots of bright indirect sunlight) about 6 months ago and the new leaves seem a little healthier, but still slim
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN 2 жыл бұрын
Hi. It may take some time for your Bonnie to produce new leaves to fill in, the older ones will remain like that (thin) until out-grown by new. Another thing to check is watering. Does your leaves look pale? If so, you may be overwatering, Check soil and if it's still soggy one week after watering, .reduce your watering frequency. Hope this helps. 😀🪴

So is the soil dried out enought if you water every 9days
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN Жыл бұрын
Hi yes, it should if you have the right well draining soil mix that I recommend. But If your soil mix is a bit heavier, you may want to wait a day or so, Check with finger or skewer in soil to verify soil moistness. If soil sticks to skewer or finger wai a day or sot. Watering cycles are averages, each home is different, some plants are larger, some smaller, soil types, light conditions, etc. I hope this helps😀🪴

Hi! That's great actually! You can take those kids and set them in some water and when they get roots to form about 1" long, transfer them over into a new soil /grow pot! And viola! Free spider babies! 😀🪴

Hey.. I'm worried why my bonnie is losing her curls and turning straight. Kindly advice.
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN Жыл бұрын
Allow her to dry out between waterings, that should help with keeping her curls. Also if your soil mix is too dense that may also contribute to relaxing of her curls. Hope this helps.😀 🪴

@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN

Hi there. LECA is a lightweight clay pebble that some plants love growing in! And 20-20-20 is a ratio for NPK liquid fertilizers, its a balanced fertilizer for houseplants. Hope this helps.😀🪴

Hi, why did my plants having brown strip in the middle of it leaf? Is it over water or under water? I just cut all the infected leaves just incase it’s some kind of diseases. Thanks in advance 😊
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Linda, with spider plants, browning and (dulling of leaves ) usually means that she is being overwatered. How does the soil feel to touch? How often do you water her?
@lindals839
@lindals839 2 жыл бұрын
@@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN Firstly, thank you for replying. Actually I just bought last two weeks ago. I watered about 2 to 3 times a week after checking the soil with my finger. I don’t know what kinda soil mix underneath, but they using coconut fibre on the upper layer of the pot. This is my first time having spider plant. My other plants mostly Orchids, and recently started to collect Begonias. Thanks again 😊
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN 2 жыл бұрын
I would recommend watering less. That might help. But when you do water, water deep enough so that you see water coming out of drain holes. Then wait til soil is dry testing with the 2 knuckle finger test before watering again. Hope this helps !😀🪴

What the heck is a 800 to a thousand foot candle? Is it too difficult to just say a few feet from the window.
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN
@LETSGROWGARDENDESIGN Жыл бұрын
Ummm , no, it's not too difficult and I often say in some of my latest house plant videos that you will get approximately x foot candles from a west facing widow ...etc. BUT, some people have trees outside their windows or a big roof overhang that lessens the indoor light received. So having foot candle measurements not only standardizes the ranges it also removes confusion to common lighting phrases as "bright light" "indirect light", those phrases to me is wayyyy too subjective to use as a light measurement , So I add in Foot candles because it is exact ,and that makes it best. ALSO I and I did a how-to video specifically on foot candles and how to use a foot candle meter ( they are inexpensive) so people have good useable info on house plants. Check it out so you can learn what the heck a foot candle is. 😀🪴
