Hi John, this shouldn't be a problem. We only suggest growing strawberries in rows to make them easier to access for maintenance and picking. Make sure you allow 45cm between plants for good airflow, which helps prevent disease. Hope this helps.

Hi John, you can move them but it's best to wait until the autumn when temperatures are cooler and there is more rainfall.

Hi John, we draw netting over the strawberries to protect them from birds. Old strawberry leaves can harbour many damaging fungal diseases such as Botrytis and fungal leaf spot, so are best removed for continuous healthy growth.

what should i do for growing strawberry in pot? i have purchased the giant strawberry seeds from ebay .
@vanmeuwenplants11 жыл бұрын
Hi, growing strawberries in pots is very similar to growing them in the ground and uses the same techniques. We've added a link to our 'how to grow strawberries' article in the video description above, which has more information about growing strawberries in pots. We hope this helps!

I did not know about the two types of strawberries, and also your way of framing and netting the plants to keep the birds and squirrels off them is great. So many videos on how to grow strawberries and most of them are not anywhere as useful as this ... thanks, great ideas. Another video says that the plants stop putting out fruit after about 3 years, so they rotate the patches removing the ones that are three years old with new plants. Do you do that or think it is necessary or suggest a different method?
@vanmeuwenplants8 жыл бұрын
Yes we would agree with that. They tend to become less productive and suffer from disease as the years go on so a 3 year rotation period is a great way to keep your strawberry patch going.

Hi. Nice informative video. I have a question which I hope you answer. After you remove the straw, untill when it must be kept out (to stop the weeds i suppose)?
@vanmeuwenplants7 жыл бұрын
The straw is removed to increase ventilation around the plants, thereby reducing fungal infections and diseases.

hi, I am ramesh from south Korea, thanks for the video, i had planted strawberry in large pots there are growing good, but leaves are more and fruit production is less, are they can be seasonal plant or what can be the problem, and lastly your strawberries are very very pretty like you :)
@vanmeuwenplants10 жыл бұрын
Hi ramesh, there are 2 main types of strawberry plant - ever-bearing and summer-fruiting. Summer-fruiting strawberries produce a heavy flush of fruits in early to mid summer, whereas ever-bearing strawberries produce small flushes of fruit from summer to autumn. It may be that you have a summer-fruiting variety, in which case the plant has finished fruiting and will now focus on leaf growth and runner production (plantlets) until next year. We hope this helps.

Hi thank you for the reply :), may be what u said is right...its producing large no of runners...i had three varieties of plants..but all are semilar, then when i will get fruits agsin? and in winter, is it possible to grow these plants in a closed room under a table lamp...due to snow fall?...is there any exact light duration and temparature for strawberry growth?
@vanmeuwenplants10 жыл бұрын
Hi ramesh, if you have summer-fruiting varieties unfortunately you won't get any more fruits until next year. Strawberries need a winter chill period in order to produce fruit so it's best to leave them outside for the winter. They will quite happily cope with snow and freezing temperatures!

OK thank you :)

U have one more issue. After three years must I change their location as well
@vanmeuwenplants7 жыл бұрын
After 3 years they become less productive and tend to suffer from more diseases. Therefore some people like to remove the plants completely and replant with fresh young plants.
