Interesting Jules. Almost mimicking the dual root zone technique:) We don't have clay but still may try next year. Totally agree with internet wizards lol !! Paralysis by analysis!! Cheers from Victoria Canada Jason and Colleen 🌱🌱🌱

Hey hey y'all! Thanks for watching and commenting. Yeah, I stand by "try it yourself and see." Microclimates, soil conditions, evreything matters when growing any plant. Any study or opinion is simply, at best, an average. :) Happy Gardening and Happy Holiday Season!

Last year I grew mine in a concrete flower box. It was a very dry summer here in Western pa and they exploded! This year was very wet and none of my peppers grew. Thank you for great info my friend 🙂

Sunlight clearly made a difference in your results. Growing the plants in the holes of the block is a good use of the space.

I like your block idea. A container that you don't have to worry about stowing away. It can stay where it is! Of all the things we grow, peppers are my favorite! Then eggplant, which most gardeners up here stay away from because of our climate. I grow beautiful eggplant every year. The people around here can't believe it lol. Not that hard in our short, cooler climate. Third, tomatoes. Enjoyed! Take care my Friend!

I've been using blocks in the garden for herbs, but have not tried peppers yet, I'll try it for sure, especially because growing peppers has been a struggle! Greetings Jules!

Give it a go Juani. 3 years and running with it here. At a minimum it saves space, but so easy to place that water and nutrition and weeds? What weeds?

I believe the reason the block works well is because it retains heat. If in a hot climate it may be too hot. I plant north to south along cattle panels with peppers on east side and tomatoes on west so the peppers get afternoon shade. If it gets too hot I use shade fabric. I always think of conditions where I’ve seen a healthy poison nightshade growing. About leaching, I wouldn’t worry about older cement blocks as they probably leached out already.

Thanks! Good stuff mate. How did the garden go this year? We had a rather wierd year here. Not warm enough to start then way too warm during summer.

@@JulesGardening in WI we had extreme drought since May. We had rain in January, March weather in April, 90s for spring and a freak frost just before Memorial Day. The latter I almost threw the towel in because all plants were well advanced out of dormancy and either killed or severely set them back. Local winery lost 95%. It was bad and the local weather never warned of frost. The frost was spotty near trees, but in the open it fried. It amazingly missed my backup flats and I replanted. I didn’t have time to chart all varieties and so now I’m trying to figure out what tomatoes and peppers I’m harvesting because I had over 25 varieties. This was the year I wanted to figure out what did best here and save seed next year. I believe I have figured out a few and those that survived the frost get extra points. I watered sometimes twice a day so I installed drip irrigation July 11th and we had a first bit of rain on the 12th🙄 as I was done with the hose. About a week ago we had Finally got 3.5” of rain!! It was strange to see and hear. It bumped us up a notch on drought monitor, but now we have the heat dome for next 3 days. Triple digits is Very uncommon here even though we have a severe microclimate. By using shade fabric, mulch, watering by hand and then irrigation we were able to keep 2 large gardens going and Happy to say producing. I’ve learned we can grow radishes but under shade fabric, grow excellent celery in a kiddie pool and much better crops of rutabagas and carrots through spacing farther apart. Four insects were problems: potato beetles, J. Beetles, grubs and (slugs) due to more moisture from irrigation; however, we finally are seeing WORMS as well for first time ever.😀. I used bug netting on brassicas. You asked🤣. It’s been a very ruff year indeed.

question? how much weight can you get off of just one tabasco pepper plant? One pepper seems to be like 1 gram, how many have you plucked off one plant?
@JulesGardening
@JulesGardening 8 ай бұрын
Man good question. The full satellite spread plants, boy, 150ish would be my guess. We usually grow 3 plants, make what we need, give some away and toss the rest. Never thought about counting the fruit.

@@JulesGardening Oh man thanks for your intel! Reason I ask is because I do have about 12 acres of land in the Caribbean and we will be planting these tabasco peppers plants for profit, we will be planting about 150,000 thousand of these babies! Your math sounds about right, I heard another person say they got about a pound with 3 plants, at a gram a pepper 150 peppers per plant x 3 plants we have about 450 grams which is exactly 1 pound! Now is that 150 from planting/transplanting to first harvest or is that the whole growing season?
