How To Grow Tobacco In UK #1 (Seed sowing + harvest explained)

Growing tobacco is a great way to save money on cigarettes and enjoy your own tobacco harvest organically in your own home or garden. See how I grew 4 varieties of smoking tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum).
Here's the tobacco I grew:
Virginia Gold�blue - or air-cured tobacco, ancient variety with high yields, bright leaves and low nicotine, main component for light cigarettes
Tennessee Burley�cultivar TN 90, the Burley most widely produced in the US, good yield, high quality tobacco that is favoured for cigarettes, multiple disease resistance, a vigorous plant that is easy to grow
Latakia�sun- or air-cured aromatic Oriental tobacco from Syria and Cyprus, for the water pipe and an additive for aromatic cigarettes and English pipe tobacco, grows well in dry regions and on poor soil
Havanna Corojo
bulk- or air-cured dark tobacco, the best choice for cigar production, also good as an additive for strong cigarettes

Tobacco belongs to the genus Nicotiana, there are more than 70 species, of which only two are suitable for smoking and nicotine. Nicotiana rustica is cheap tobacco. This species is grown mainly in Russia and Asia and has a very high nicotine content. The taste does not meet the expectations of the majority of smokers, compared with a light and aromatic tobacco. The second type of Nicotiana tabacum, which is usually called a cut. It is an annual plant. Depending on the type of tobacco, it can grow 1.5 m to 3 m height. Tobacco plant can grow at 15-27°C temperature, and optimum rainfall is 750 mm. Tobacco comes from the North and South America. The tabacco species are originated out of Havana. All this became possible due to good tobacco plant adaptation. United States of America created a variety of Virginia and Burley, Latakia in Syria species, variety Xanthi in Greece, Turkey - samsoun. Individual varieties differ not only in its own plants, but also dry tobacco, color and taste. Today's constantly growing in China, India and Brazil. This is because the low wages in these countries, because tobacco is a very labor-intensive fruit.

I use a covered incubater at start. It has drain holes and a tray underneath. The lid keeps moisture in which is essential. Don't use B Q compost it is $h1t. At 7 mins, I plant my seeds outside, slugs love them, build a raised bed.

Ive tried twice now and they grow 1cm n just stay like that. How long does it take to grow bigger after germination please. Ive used 2 different soils also.

You dont need a permit in the UK as long as its for personal use only, if you want to sell the tobacco then you need a permit

Hi mate, did you gave a go at growing it? I've been smoking roll ups for years and I'm going to grow my first lot this spring. I've just started smoking clan pipe tobacco in roll ups because its 30% cheaper and its actually a pleasant flavour and has less harmful additives.

MY 1ST YEAR GROWING TOBACCO (2023) I DIDN'T HAVE ROOM IN THE GARDEN SO I'VE GROWN THEM IN LARGE GROW BAGS. THE TYPE FROM B&M THAT ARE A COUPLE OF QUID.THEY'RE COMING ON WELL. THE BLACK FLIES, THE PLANTS ARE SO STICKY THAT ANY THAT LAND ON IT, STICK TO IT & DIE. THE LEAVES HAVE BEEN LEFT ALONE IN THE MOST PART.
