I love that this video is condensed to 51 seconds, that really appeals to my attention deficit disorder. 😂

"For it is not the well who need a doctor, but the sick" I get your point, but on further thought this is where the people who need it most may see it most.

As someone who is ADHD, it's not about attention span. I can read for hours. It's about distraction and concentration.

Interestingly, many adhd people will hyperfocus for extended periods of time when engaged in a task or with a topic that hooks them.
@phalamy9180

Yeah its not really an inability to pay attention. More a difficulty tolerating topics that do not interest you for extended periods of time.

@@phalamy9180 which I feel isn't so much of a disability and should just be the norm. Even normal people don't like topics that don't interest them, but they still force themselves to watch it. Maybe they get interested after too

@@en2p187 no theres a very large difference. A part of ADHD is that the brain has problems filtering inpressions by importance. When someone s talking to you, your brain can focus on it and filter out other noises. Adhd people can't. Everything is given the same importance by the brain. It takes way more effort for them to focus on something, qnd so if its not interesting to them, its basically impossible for them to actually pay attention to it.

@@phalamy9180 I know I have adhd. Was diagnosed young. Still struggle with it to this day. I stand by my opinion, idk why not focusing on things you're not interested in, is considered a class in of itself like a disability. How is that not normal? Why is it weird to pursue activities you're interested in. Yes I know of, adhd inattentive, hyperactivity, or combination type. Pomodoro method.

@@en2p187 It is, unfortunately, because society puts a LOT of weight on children having to pay attention to things they have no interest in.

My internet was spotty when trying to see this so I thought the trick was, see if they watch a still photo for seconds to see if they would give up or grow their attention

I have PI-ADHD and it’s not a lack of attention, it’s a lack of focus and control. I have no trouble paying attention, I have trouble being able to direct that attention to the right things. I find it strange to fall into that media mindset of “I must be adhd because I can’t pay attention” because that is wrong. If your like me and genuinely think there’s a problem you go to a psychiatrist for a diagnosis and/or medication to help, you don’t go on tiktok and social media saying “omg I’m so adhd, I have a short attention span” Sorry my comment was so all over the place, I’m not great with narrowing down my point and making it short and understandable
@Evie0h
@Evie0h 2 жыл бұрын
I dunno, maybe the small context of this clip is what bothered me, I didn’t like y’all saying “get off tiktok and talk”. I don’t even have tiktok. Or Facebook. Honestly I find it harder to give my attention to things that are short and quick, I’m used to spending hours at a time to focus on things if I can. I can’t start reading a book I want for fear I won’t have enough time to read for at least an hour, which is the only reason I don’t read as much as I’d like, is if I can’t dedicate at least an hour to it, it’s not enough time
