@Wild4lon6 жыл бұрын
This video was so much better and I can tell the points in it work better than loads of other videos on the same topic! This one time I didn't even do half of the things on here but I did learn my definitions and read from other textbook - the result was an A* equivalent grade (I usually get low As/high Bs). I think the tips here really are gold gold standard.

@martinhill93898 жыл бұрын
When you do the past papers, aggressively mark them afterwards, wait a few days, and do it again, repeat until you get perfect marks on the paper. I kinda disagree on the point of treating them as a special case, they're literally what you're studying to do, so repeatedly working through and aggressive marking is the best experiment to find out what you don't know well enough yet; focus your reading and remaking notes on those particular things. (but be aware of the specification of the course you're doing incase there are things that weren't in historical papers)
@martinhill93898 жыл бұрын
+Martin Hill In fact I kinda am a fan of the idea of taking practice papers at home slightly drunk, you might approach problems in an entirely silly way which still actually works. *not endorsing under-age drinking though* The point is, practice taking the paper in entirely unfavourable conditions, ie, while drunk, or at 3am while you're tired and can't really think all that coherently, if you've sufficiently mastered the subject, you still won't be able to get the questions wrong (in theory anyway) (also probably don't do this for subjects with lengthy written questions, just hard subjects with specific answers you'll either get or not get) [second edit: take notes that you can then read while sober, and despair(or not despair if you did awesome)]
@THEREALJOHN9818 жыл бұрын
+Martin Hill His point is that there are a limited supply of past papers, so don't use them right at the start of your course in a manner in which you aren't testing yourself as you would in an exam. This is as when you get closer to the exam, you will want to see where you are at in terms of progress, and if you have used them all, there wont be an accurate measure for this.

This might not be relevant to this video, however you know the Practical Endorsement, is it a separate mini qualification or does it count towards the final A level
@PhysicsOnline8 жыл бұрын
+Mahmzo The Practical Endorsement does not at all towards the AS Level. However if you do the full 2 year A Level you have to do the Practical Endorsement. This does not count towards your grade, but it is reported separately on your certificate as a 'Pass' or 'Not Completed'. The practicals you do all are core physics practicals and you will be asked questions in your exams about these core practicals so they are useful. I have a video comparing crisps to the endorsement here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2iaf4CknaiXo68

Hi Sir. I am getting a little scared now. Our teachers gave us the new practice papers that ocr released for the breadth and depth. in your mind do you think the real paper would be close to the specimen or the practice papers because i found the specimen much easier
@MuhammedAE8 жыл бұрын
+Mahmzo +A Level Physics Online This happened with my class as well. Please reply
@PhysicsOnline8 жыл бұрын
+Mahmzo I set those two papers for my lower sixth classes yesterday and I spent today marking them. They are hard but I don't think the real ones will be that tricky. Students in my class who were regularly getting over 90% in the old G481/G482 papers were getting less than 70% in these papers and many were around 30%. This is what OCR say about this: "It is important for you to know that Ofqual have stipulated that there will be no change to the demand of the new AS and A Levels. In other words, in general across the national cohort, students will get the same grades as if they had taken the legacy qualifications. Of course this will not be true for every individual student. A student who is particularly good at applying his/her knowledge to an unfamiliar situation might get a higher grade in the new qualification whereas someone who is very good at memorising a long list of facts but struggles to apply the ideas might get a lower grade. This is not a change to the overall demand, it is a shift in the weighting and detailed wording of the assessment objectives, mandated by Ofqual."

+A Level Physics Online Are there only two practice papers or are there more? I was thinking of asking my teacher for the rest since we've only done two of them.
@Mahmzo8 жыл бұрын
ah :/ i was feeling confident especially after doing the old specs papers and getting a solid A grade. The thing is in the new practice paper its the way they word the questions. It may be so simple but they word it making it so complicated :/ any tips? i found that there will be a hefty good amount of marks on experiments 100%. I am probably the worst at applying knowledge. I literally know the concepts but when put into a situation i apply the wrong thing at the wrong time. Good luck to everyone taking this exam.
