Belting of chain mail is important to shift the weight from the shoulders to the waist. Place the belt at the actual waist, above the hips, and blouse the mail over the belt slightly. This makes the mail ride more on the lower body, while preserving the mobility of the wearer. The blousing also prevents the mail from being too rigid from hanging straight down, improving its performance against cuts and blunt force attacks by allowing the mail to wrap itself around the blow a bit. It also reduces the apparent weight of the armor on the wearer. With practice, the body will accustom itself to the added mass.

Loved this whole video! Especially being a fan of movies that are from this point in time. Whoever thought of the ways to defend the castle....like the arrow loops. Really cool how the archers could see so much and not worry about getting hit. That would have to be a GREAT shot if it went through that 3 inch space!
