A lovely top and the fabric is gorgeous. In the past when I have used the lightening stitch on jersey and made a mistake you can never unpick it its very hard to do. I have ruined many jersey dresses with that stitch. Mercedes from The GBSB gave a tip on one of her blogs saying use an ordinary stitch and a ball point needle and you will be able to unpick. Mercedes has made the Nina Lee South Bank Sweater dress. Not that you make mistakes but just thought I would mention it. I have some lovely teal jersey I have ruined through not being able to unpick. Keep your tutorials coming Rachel they are good.

Thank you I enjoyed watching this. I’ve made the Cowl neck dress by SOI before but it’s an awkward fit on the shoulders- slips off.i don’t find the Cowl too big though. It’s amazing how straight forward it is to hack the neckline. I liked the way u bound the back neck as you just turn the SOI one in which I wasn’t that happy with. Your top looks lovely 🤗

Always wanted to know how to make the drape-neck out of a regular neckline and really appreciate the video, Rachel. (Mine did the same up and down volume thing so I kept my fingers and controlled that way.)

@@Saladmama57 I turned mine up and down too, but I think people who make videos like to hear feedback, if not then they shouldn't be making videos for other people to watch.

Beautiful top! Thank you for the tutorial. I have many patterns for cowl necks because it’s my favorite neckline, but most are too low for work (teacher). Can’t have cleavage showing around kiddos and the lower necks also open up when leaning over to help students. This one is 👌. I’ve seen the tutorials floating around, but watching you do it makes it seem simple and easier somehow (plus those ones also made a deep cowl). Thanks again!
@donnatoman7299

Thanks for this tutorial Rachel. The top is beautiful. I have tried making various cowl neck patterns and the drop is always too deep. I end up exposing much more than intended and end up trashing the garment. Your tutorial allows for a more subtle drop in the cowl which results in a very elegant look.

Thank you for this video! I'm a fan of cowl necks. As a plus size, I couldn't find a pattern with the National brands. The one pattern I DID find was 6 inches (bust) too small. So it seemed daunting to both add width AND attempt to add a cowl neck. If as you say, any T-shirt top pattern can be modified to have this cowl neck added. Wish me luck!

Years ago we cut a large circle and folded it in hakf and sewed it to a low neckline to make a beautiful cowl. It was a class I took called sew that cowl. I loved the look. It was very similar to your cowl. But I’m trying to fill in necklines that are too low. Have you seen that circular add on cowl.
