Just a helpful tip: No need to tie two yarns together. Simply leave a long tail on both skeins and continue to knit. The weaving will bind the two together. When done, just weave all of the loose ends and the blanket will be flat, with no bumps or knots. (Knots weaken the bond and can sometimes come undone too, leaving a hole). That's what I do when I crochet. Same thing, just different size. Beautiful blanket. Thank you for the tutorial. You did a great job! :)
@ShesCraftyandSheKnowsIt4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip Cyndi! I’ve always tied knots in my knitting and crocheting - it’s just the way I was taught. I’ll have to try it the other way next time. Since this blanket has bigger loops and is a little bit of a looser stitch the thought of not doing knots makes me nervous since my 3 little kids love using the blanket, but I’m going to look into it! Thanks!

Thank you so much for creating this knitting project. I just finished a beautiful white merino wool blanket for my granddaughter and I’m working on another for my daughter. Excellent instructional! I've wanted to buy a chunky blanket for a long time, (they are expensive) but saw chunky yarn at Joanne's and decided to make one. I used to knit with knitting needles when I was younger, but I haven't done that in years. I had no idea how to make these only knew it was called "hand knitting." I watched your video and now I have a very good idea how to make my own chunky blanket. I will also make some for gifts for friends and family, if I'm not so klutzy that I destroy the yarn. With your instruction, I think I can do it! Thank you!

@@joleejo82 It took me a couple hours. I had only brought 2 skeins not really knowing how big of a blanket it would make when I purchased them long ago. It made a small throw. After that I bought 4 skeins of a really fuzzy faux fur. I knew that would be way more challenging as it's harder to see what your doing with fur. I just made a chunky wool blanket following your tutorial, and it turnt out amazing! I have been wanting to make a chunky blanket for so long, but every tutorial was so confusing except yours! I made mine striped because my yarn balls were slightly smaller; it is alternating a light pink and white! Thank you so much!!

I can not wait to try this. Your tutorial was easy enough to follow. Thank you so much and for also answering questions already that I myself was wondering about. I have 2 daughter's and daughter-in-law to make for first, then I'll make one for myself. Great Christmas presents.

Thank you for sharing with us..I am going to try this..as I am 60 and have horrible arthritis in my hands so I have a hard time knitting.. This maybe something I can do 💗
@ShesCraftyandSheKnowsIt3 жыл бұрын
Hi Carolyn! I hope you were able to hand knit without it making your arthritis any worse! I had someone else comment and say that arthritis has kept them from knitting with needles but they were able to hand knit just fine! Hope you had the same experience!

I’m so glad I found your video! Good job you’re explaining everything so clearly and definitely making me want to try it out. I live in the Netherlands and just redid my room and thought a blanket like this would look great in it, but they’re sooo expensive! So this is a great solution. Just looking into where to buy which wool, since all stores are closed (corona 🤦♀️). I’m excited to try it out!
@ShesCraftyandSheKnowsIt3 жыл бұрын
Oh yay! I’m so glad you found the video helpful! I wish I was able to help you find the yarn! Also, just a heads up - the wool does shed. If you’re using mainly for decoration then it’s ok, but if you’re wanting to use it I’d recommend a non-wool yarn!

I wonder what it looks like now. Did it fall to pieces because the yarn looks so soft and loose, or did it felt up and go hard?
@ShesCraftyandSheKnowsIt4 жыл бұрын
It definitely has not fallen into pieces but it has shed some.
@egoisticflamingo58694 жыл бұрын
ooh, just give it some time and that blanket is deadddd
@mickeymouse28544 жыл бұрын
@@ShesCraftyandSheKnowsIt Oh no! It shed? I would felt it up then. Spray it with water and put in in the dryer, I would watch a tutorial on felt ups if you dont know how to do one.

@@egoisticflamingo5869 thats not true. I've had mine for 6 years....
@firestar52203 жыл бұрын
@@marikiemarie7622 it depends what material you use, since she used really loose and unstructured roving in the video, it might fall apart or become thinner

This was a great tutorial. For washing instructions do you just wash it on the gentle cycle and allow it to air dry or do you just spot clean it?
@ShesCraftyandSheKnowsIt3 жыл бұрын
I would spot clean it, or hand wash it in the bathtub and hang to dry.
@gloriaworthington79743 жыл бұрын

Would love to make one of these. But that Yarn, is a bit pricey. But they sure are nice. They look so cozy and soft.
@ShesCraftyandSheKnowsIt4 жыл бұрын
I’ve linked some other options in the description of the video. There is a yarn from Michaels that is more reasonably priced and doesn’t shed!
