No way. This is such an unlikely line for a set to take. It worked out here, but I'm almost never expecting to get called by worse unless the player is completely clueless.
@jameswalker7420
@jameswalker7420 Жыл бұрын
I'm usually just calling because I think most players are probably folding anything less than 65 to the shove. Does QT even call our 60 lead on the turn? I think villains range when he raises river here is J9cc, J9hh, 44, 65, and bluffs. Many villains will fold 44 to the shove, so I'm not sure I'm on board with the shove unless there's some bluffing dynamic going on. And 44 flatting the turn and then raising the river is very strange. The more I think about it the more I just don't see this shove making sense unless villain is a drooler.
@bradleyhines604

I would have just called. I would be afraid of all combos of J9 or 96. Villain shouldn't have those, but in a 2/5 game, people show up on the river with all kinds of BS they shouldn't have.

I don't see how any limper is folding any pair, suited connector or incidental broadway hands to a single raise from the blinds. The "avoiding getting coolered by raising" hands like this theory doesn't make much sense IMO.
@nuklearwinter2892
@nuklearwinter2892 Жыл бұрын
Yeah… in Texas there is zero chance any limpers fold unless you make it absolutely massive pre and you might get 1 fold. Then you’re playing a bloated pot out of position with a hand that rarely flops well enough to continue confidently.
@jameswalker7420
@jameswalker7420 Жыл бұрын
I agree, nobody is folding any pair that they limped unless we make some giant silly raise. I'm shocked at the discussion of that it seems like nonsense jibberish. And the idea that we're doing it to try to to avoid set over set situations that are very rare just makes the discussion extra stupid.

some limpers will fold but generally people that limp are only going to fold to like 1.5x pot and when u get called you’re probably beat but you gotta be ready for them to blast off 100% of the time. I dont mind raising limpers just bc theyre generally so bad that i can just dip out of the pot when I miss and get stacks in when i make a premium w almost no bluffs and they generally dont notice

You also have to realize that most players think of bets in terms of money; not in terms of percentage of the pot or implied odds. Some players don't want to call $100 bet regardless of whether the pot is $100 or $1000.

If we play as the villain, and raise the river for value with bottom set, and then get 3bet for an all in sizing(pot), should a fold ever be considered? Villain in video snap called with bottom set, but how often are river 3BETS bluffs or worse value?
@hn7933
@hn7933 Жыл бұрын
I would fold bottom set, it's a limped pot. The ranges are uncapped and should be read by aggression, not position or player history, especially on the river. I would never raise river here with bottom set if I x/c the turn.

@maff_
@maff_ Жыл бұрын
It’s gotta be a call with all the straight draws completing. If you are Villain here, the Hero has a lot of the 2 pair combos that you beat, but also has 77, and all straight combos. The only 2 pair combo that calls is likely QT and some Q8/7, but the rest of calling/raising hands you lose to
@jameswalker7420
@jameswalker7420 Жыл бұрын
@@maff_ I don't even think QT is in heros range as played. Q7 and 87 make sense, but the call flop lead turn line almost always will be a hand that improved on the turn. QT isn't leading turn huge like this. And some QT is raising preflop too.

3:40.If they are deep, people are just going to set mine you all day with their lower pocket pairs, so you aren't folding out 22-55. If you raise to 120, people should call with their low pocket pairs. You are 180 bbs deep, so he is calling 90 to possibly win (930 implied odds), meaning he has 10.3:1 on a call'. So, he has the odds to set mine. A useful follow up should be raise sizing, because if you want to fold out those hands, you need to be going around 180.

I haven’t made it to the result yet, so this could look foolish, but I am expecting to be called off by a lot of sets in a pot that was limped multiway preflop. Of course a set should be looking deny flush draws on flop and turn, and therefore we should have seen them earlier. However there are definitely OMCs in the player pool who will hold sets here and wait until the river because they want to be absolutely certain there are no flushes out there, before waking up and raising on the river.
@fluffysheap
@fluffysheap Жыл бұрын
I think this is a good raise, from opponent perspective we have so many two pairs, mostly Q8. Neither of us should have J9 or 69 because that wouldn't bet flop and shouldn't call flop. 56 clubs is the only reasonable straight we can have and 88 the only reasonable better set because QQ would raise pre. There are just not that many ways we can beat 44. There is another factor which is that when there's a straight draw and a flush draw and the flush misses, sometimes people will somewhat undervalue the straight, first because we are psychologically more worried about the bigger threat but also because straights can easily still lose. Overall I like the all in but I'm not sure if I would think of it at the time.

I don’t buy that anyone will be forced out of a multi-way pot with 44 or 55 when you raise the BB if they are doing all this limping… Im gonna bet my combo draw on this flop about 30% pot. Hmm maybe I shld be checkraising this? In any event, I definitely lead the turn. At least 70% sizing. Normally you go smaller in multi-way spots. But with this board being so dynamic, the button is going to have really good odds to call so maybe more like pot here. River: nuts do change, so im gonna block bet 15-20% pot ($30-40). Planning to call a raise. I don’t play that many people who will raise QT if I lead for 50-70% pot. But I do think QT can raise a block bet.
@jameswalker7420

Agree about the pairs limp folding to a bb raise. Embarrassingly dumb idea. I think everyone is also ignoring the fact that neither villain nor hero played this hand in a way consistent with QT. Definitely not hero.

When you say you only need people to fold 60% of the time to be profitable, how do you figure that percentage out? 35% to hit flush minus odds of better flushes plus other equity roughly equals 40%? I have no idea.
