Because this is a forerunner of Jesus and His light. Just as Moses is a forerunner of Jesus. The promise of Jesus is all throughout the Bible, from beginning to end.

Something I learned that I thought was really cool was, as for the story of the miracle oil.....the issue wasn't that they couldn't find oil; yes, oil was everywhere. The problem was, for use in the temple, you couldn't use just any oil. The temple had already been defiled by the Greeks, so there was not enough 'pure' or 'holy' oil. They only found one small amount with the seal unbroken. According to the law of Moses, the process to purify oil to make it fit for the temple took 8 days. So it was a miracle that the little amount they found lasted until the other oil they had was made fit for use in the temple. 😊

Brother Jim, I’ve never celebrated this because I was always told the story of the lights lasting all week. You are the first one to explain truthfully that this is not a commanded feast time (the reason I didn’t celebrate), and to explain that celebrating it is a learning experience. Thank you so much. I’ll be celebrating this evening! Hallelu יהרה / HalleluYAHWEY.

Well with 2 rabbis you have 3 opinions. Plus I imagine there had to be a certain purification and holiness to the oil. It takes 8 days to make right. I believe they wouldn't chance just any oil after the Roman's just sacrificed a pig there. Lol its 4:44

Hannukah really is only 1 day, the 8 day miracle was a rabbinical farbication never happened. So we only celelbrate it as a memorial to the Military success of the Maccabees

I tell you what,,,, We have Solomon who was about as evil as it gets when he dedicated the man made Temple and most likely got drunk on the night because he married pharaohs daughter which was strictly prohibited and because of how he was, we have his mother Basheba writing psalms 31 and Hebrews today think that is something to celebrate? Do we really understand what was going on at that time and don’t give me that it was an earthly temple that foreshadowed the heavenly because the only Holy Place Yah gave instructions to build was the tabernacle which David had in Jerusalem AND the heavenly temple in Revelation which will ascend from the heaven says, Yashuah is our Temple not a building… Can people read? Ugh…. Hanukkah is another Christmas that man has just re labeled so that they can participate in another festival which Yah never told us to! We stopped listening to pastors in the church but now we just listen to pastors on U Tube 🤦

Not sure at all where you get your information from......when Solomon dedicated the temple, he had the most beautiful worship and prayers to God. God was so moved by what Solomon did that His visible presence filled the temple and the priests couldn't even perform their duties because of the presence of God. You can find that in 2 Chronicles, chapters 5-7.

@@iamfree-ce7xd Well, you could be right but I think we all know that Solomon went south fast…. He was set apart at the beginning but fell away at the end…. Maccabees shortly afterwards according to research brought in the Talmudic traditions such as Purim, Hanukkah , the name Hashem and so much more… I do not believe they were Yahs people but only wanted control….so it seemed like they partnered up with the Romans and Greeks to be able to control Jerusalem…. Even today, the Old city is divided into 4 parts with their part being Armenian quarter… and one more thing, the mark of the beast seems to be based on Solomons actions… which money/ Gold was a big factor. Yah only allowed this temple because of the love for David and it was not about the structure but He allowed it for HIS NAME… Let’s not be deceived in thinking also that the lying pen of the scribes might have twisted some of the scriptures in their favor in order to fool us today…. I totally agree with your thought that Solomon when He began had a heart for Yah but how fast fame and pride can take us from a righteous walk to unrighteousness! For me and my family, we will stick to the festivals in The Torah and choose not to add or take away. I once did Christmas thinking it was good but once Yah opened my eyes to how He says Don’t worship me in the way of Pagens, I stopped doing it and now that I have been forgiven, I don’t want to jump to another tradition that the Jews or fake Jews celebrate. Thanks for the reply and we all will keep searching for righteousness….. It’s one thing to practice these things in ignorance but another to continue these things when you have been shown from Yah that they are pagan. Praise Yah that we can repent and turn from these misunderstandings 🙏🏼❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼

@@craigsteinbach8952 Solomon returned to God in his older age, as evidenced by Ecclesiastes. The problem that you're going to find is that Jesus Himself celebrated Hanukkah, also known as the Feast of Dedication. It's in John 10. Hanukkah has everything to do with the Temple; they gathered at the temple, and that's where Jesus was during the feast. Just because a festival didn't come from the law of Moses doesn't mean that it's automatically wrong. Another example of that would be the feast of Purim that was started in the time of Esther.

@@iamfree-ce7xd I can tell this discussion will only cause division so I am going to humbly not continue but I want to just say one thing because maybe I can express my feelings better in this statement. Yah doesn’t want us to celebrate a re- dedication of a man made temple with stone but He wants us to celebrate a re- dedicated temple of the heart. We are the temple… Blessings to you and your family ❤️❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼

@@craigsteinbach8952 Sir, I showed you Scripture. That should have solved it because the Word of God is the final authority. Jesus said He came to cause division, Bec that's what happens when you separate Scripture from opinion. I humble suggest you follow the Bible. Most of what you said is not Biblical, and I showed you with Scripture. It's so important to know God's Word so we are not deceived on other matters. Search the Scriptures, friend ❤️

Well your body is a temple for the Holy Spirit made by God’s hand.
@kerrikakes101712 күн бұрын
From my perspective, I celebrate it rather than Christmas. Christmas, teaches our children to put together their “wants“ list . This completely feeds their fleshly desires. Hanukkah is the festival of lights, which talks about re-dedicating your temple to the Lord. Your body is the new temple. I am starting a new tradition with my ladies Bible study. We are creating “ Hanukkah boards- rededicating our temple to the Lord. It’s amazing, when I was searching for ideas, every vision board, including prayer board I saw, focused on prayer needs benefiting the person. Our Hanukkah boards, focus on how we can dedicate ourselves as a servant to God. Just a thought.

Where in the Talmud is the miracle of the oil? Talmud Shabbat 21b:10 The Gemara asks: What is Hanukkah, and why are lights kindled on Hanukkah? The Gemara answers: The Sages taught in Megillat Ta’anit: On the twenty-fifth of Kislev, the days of Hanukkah are eight. One may not eulogize on them and one may not fast on them. What is the reason? When the Greeks entered the Sanctuary they defiled all the oils that were in the Sanctuary by touching them. And when the Hasmonean monarchy overcame them and emerged victorious over them, they searched and found only one cruse of oil that was placed with the seal of the High Priest, undisturbed by the Greeks. And there was sufficient oil there to light the candelabrum for only one day. A miracle occurred and they lit the candelabrum from it eight days. The next year the Sages instituted those days and made them holidays with recitation of hallel and special thanksgiving in prayer and blessings. (Source www.sefaria.org/Shabbat.21b.10?lang=bi&with=all&lang2=en) THE CHANUKAH POLEMIC OF 1891 In December 1891 Slonimski published a short essay in the Hebrew language journal Hazefirah... Slonimski cited Maimonides himself. Here is how Maimonides described the events surrounding the oil: When, on the twenty-fifth of Kislev, the Jews had emerged victorious over their foes and destroyed them, they re-entered the Temple where they found only one jar of pure oil, enough to be lit for only a single day; yet they used it for lighting the required set of lamps for eight days, until they managed to press olives and produce pure oil. Do you see what is missing? Slonimski did. There is no mention of any miracle. Instead Maimonides seems to hedge, and notes instead that “they used it for lighting the required set of lamps for eight days.” Slonimski suggested that the Menorah was lit for a short time each evening, and then the lamps were extinguished, instead of burning through the rest of the night. That is how the oil managed to last eight days. Nothing miraculous to see here. (Source: www.talmudology.com/jeremybrownmdgmailcom/2020/3/26/shabbat-21-was-there-a-chanukah-miracle)
