How to hardwire radar detector 2020 Ram 3500

I installed a hardwire to the back of mirror in a 2020 Ram 3500.
Time was a little over an hour but I did it without knowing what to expect.
I included what I used for the process.

Not sure if it helps, but I have a few suggestions as I used this video to assist tapping into my mirror. When taking off the small cover, I worked mine from the bottom with a small tool like a flat screwdriver. It came off fairly easy pulling up from the bottom on both sides. Next, the large shroud came off extremely easy, so go ahead and take that off. Next, I did not take the mirror off, leave it in place and just tap into the wires. I did route my cable through the shroud like the poster did here. Reassembled and working great.

So I am searching on KZbin for how to remove the mirror cover on a RAM 3500, and like Todd said, there is no other video. But after watching Todd remove his nose hairs, which looked to be quite painful, I didn't know if I should put much faith in his mirror removal abilities. But alas, it seems to be sound advice. I am not installing a radar detector. I am mounting my Furrion backup camera monitor to the rear-view mirror, and don't want a wire dangling down from it. So I am going to cut the 12v plug off the power cord for the monitor and hot tap it into the back of the mirror. I will then just tuck the power wire into the trim went not using the monitor. Thanks Todd. I will just stick to the traditional method of cutting my nose hairs BTW😎.

I plan on doing this with a dash cam, but my only hurdle was understanding how the plastic shroud comes off - you saved me a headache for sure.

Assuming you have the 12" Screen UConnect system with the Lane Departure and Automatic Cruise Control system hence the larger mirror shroud .. confirming cause I have that on my 1500 and was looking to do the exact same mod and you're the only vid I found... thanks for taking the time!

Yes... larger screen and set up... figuring out how to pull the plastic apart rear view mirror was so difficult... glad I could help...

my prevoius truck i had a mount that connect to the post of the mirror. do you have any issues with the suction cup falling?

Carli Suspension makes the best Suspension/lifts available for the 3500. I got the Dominator kit and it raised the front about 4" the rear 1" leveled out perfectly. I still need to be able to haul my backhoe so I changed the rear leafs out and got the long travel air bags. It tamed Her to ride so nice You won't believe it! Check out the videos on CJC Offroads KZbin channel. They also make 2 other kits (less expensive) It all depends on how deep yur pockets are and how fast you wanna be able to go over the rough stuff.

What is the length of the RJ-11 cable that you used? I have a 1500 that I want to do this for with my Valentine One.

I am not sure.. it was standard with the kit... maybe 8 ft?
