I mostly just sautee it, but I've been making a lot of creamy soup with vegetables lately. I toss in sauteed onions, boiled potatoes and a green vegetable of choice into a blender, and then heat it in a soup pot with a bit of butter, low fat milk, salt, pepper, and some corn starch to a boil, top it off with truffle olive oil and then garnish with parsley.

Hi Kevin! I make my best friend’s Sri Lankan kale recipe, which is one of the most delicious ways to cook greens in my opinion. Sautée onions with some mustard seed, shredded coconut, garlic, turmeric powder, salt and pepper until the onions are translucent. Then toss in chopped up kale and mix as it cooks for a couple of min. When it wilts, it’s done!

Growing up in Germany, I had a lot of kale, usually in combination with diced potatoes and sausage. I never had kale chips until a couple of years ago. I love them now. Especially with some heat from some pepper flakes and maybe some cumin or chili powder.

Love kale in smoothies, soups and pasta sauce. It’s a great way to get kids eat greens. And when they ask what the green flecks are I say Basil 😂. I love to garden and slowly getting better at it. Kale is one of the first things I grew and love how easy it is. After watching several of videos I better know how to keep the pests off. I would bring it in the house, put in water and out comes spiders and slugs 😖.

Use a dehydrator and you need no oil and it never burns. So delish. Your kale looks gorgeous. Mine grow as weird looking trees bc I grab leaves most days. My recipe: mix in blender 1 red pepper, 1/4 c nutritional yeast, 1 lemon, salt. Toss with kale, throw into dehydrator. soooooo gooooood

Hi Kevin, Funny I just sat down with my curly kale, brocoll and pea soup I made last night . It's very popular in our house. I start out making bone broth and let that cook 24 hours on low. Then I remove the bones and put the kale with stems in the blender with water to blend, drain water and add kale to bone broth approximately 4 bundles of kale. Meanwhile in a separate pan I cook broccoli till tender and add it to the soup final step add peas let simmer about an hour and what you have is one fabulous power soup to die for. I hope you try it. Your garden is so beautiful. I have kale growing right now. I'm so new at gardening I've not even had a harvest yet. I became a "gardener" in the virus lock down. I love learning and wow there's much to learn. I've had copperheads in my compost pile tarantula looking spiders at my feet, and yes just as big. And all the videos I watch on you tube it looked so easy. Still all that said, I love it. I want it so bad. When I wake up I can't wait to get out there and grow. So you sharing your knowledge means so much to so many people and I for one thank you very much! From georgia, yeah georgia clay country, don't forget the rocks!!! Cathy

If you had chickens, they would probably eat your kale stems; but, when I make kale chips, I try to leave the leaf as whole as possible. I just use my dehydrator to make my kale chips. They are plain, so no oil or seasons. I keep them in a clamp jar and use them crumbled up in soups and stews. I even crush the kale up in scrambled eggs. Any food where you could use dried parsley, you can use dried kale.

So this is a weird thing to miss, but I really liked how you used to say “for 20 years of bountiful kale harvests” (or similar), and you changed it recently. There was something kind of magical about giving a specific number, like you were a powerful garden wizard revealing the secrets to us, or a gardening spiritual leader imparting your mystical blessing. YUMMY! Kevin, your making me hungry for some kale chips now! It reminds me of oven baked cauliflower, I've tried purple and it was so delicious. I've recently tired growing some kale from seeds with my kids and nothing grew! Aww I was looking forward to eating kale. I LOVE to make copycat Zuppa Toscana soup (from OG with potatoes, sausage and plenty of KALE). I've made it on the stove in a large dutch oven and also in the crock pot (lazy style-which as a busy mom, I'm so ok with). I got my Zuppa recipe from Damn Delicious (seriously its so good! Everything I've tried onher website and cook book is AMAZING!!) Well looking forward to try growing kale again! PS- I've also tried Grinch Juice (a sneaky way for mom's to get more veggies in smoothies for kids). It's spinach or kale blended with either orange juice or lemon juice & ice. Kale is awesome frozen because you can sprinkle it in dishes and get picky eaters to gobble it down!
