Such an enginious hive and the Super is amazing. Unfortunatly I am in Egypt and have no access to buy it. If possible could you guide me on how to make one. I might have to compromise on some of the parts. I am sure they won't be available hear. Or explain the theory of the design if this is no bother to you Thanks a million for your valuable videos and advice. I am new to it but we have got a swarm off a tree and it is giving quite dark honey. I would like to develop it. Talking specially about the super and its structure

What do you do if the honey in the super crystallizes
@FlowHive
@FlowHive 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, crystallising honey is a troublesome occurrence in all methods of harvesting. You can find that through warming the Flow Frame up you could successfully put the frame into the open position to then allow the bees to clean the honey back and restore it more liquid in available space, ensuring once this process has been completed the Flow Frame is reset to the closed position for the bees to rework on. Warming it requires soaking in water no hotter than 70ºC/160ºF. If it is preferred to remove completely, open and close repeatedly while the Flow Frames is soaking, and use a plastic bristle brush to scrape out further honey and wax. The bees can clean the rest once it has fully dried out of direct sunlight. -Kieran

At my school we got a 2 beehives and one of them is doing really well and one of them is seems like the queen is not laying any eggs what should I do for this.
@ianmackintosh7278
@ianmackintosh7278 4 жыл бұрын
Probable answer NO eggs = no queen so have a look for the queen. No queen = re-queen or give a frame of eggs from the other hive making sure the other queen is not on that frame or give the known queen to the egg-less hive and the hive with eggs will make a new queen. I think move the queen so she thinks she has swarmed.

If you are moving from suburb to suburb or state to state or city to country, how do you transport the bees and the hive safely without losing bees or creating problems with your hives integrity.
@FlowHive
@FlowHive 4 жыл бұрын
We have tried different methods of moving the hive, if you are moving the hive close to where it was originally located, we found that pushing mesh into the entrance at sundown when all the bees are home and cloth taping the base, boxes and roof firmly together. This will allow you to safely move it to a new location. Make sure to wear a bee suit during this as there are risks involved. Once the hive is in place, bang on the side of the brood box loudly with an open hand, then place a large leafy branch over the entrance. Remove the steel wool and the bees should reorientate in the morning. If you are moving you hive a long distance you need to be careful your colony does not overheat. We suggest you contact experienced beekeepers in your area. We also suggest you do as much research as possible before moving your hive, and seek some more advice from other Flow beekeepers on our community forum - forum.honeyflow.com/ If you have any questions or require any further assistance please email info@honeyflow.com - Leah.

We're in southern Florida, pretty much non-seasonal. Why are bees only purchasable in the early spring?
@FlowHive
@FlowHive Жыл бұрын
Hey Bill, Thanks for your question. Typically for most of places, Spring is the time of year the bees come out of hibernation and ready to expand. But perhaps your local beekeeping community provide bees more time throughout the year if it's non-seasonal... For this reason we can't emphasise enough the value of local beekeeping mentors/connecting with your local beekeeping club. You may find these yourself, or here are a couple of links to help too, our online directory of Flow affiliated beekeeping clubs and our online community forum, specifically the Connect With Locals section: www.honeyflow.com/pages/bee-club-directory forum.honeyflow.com/c/connect-with-locals/23 I hope this helps. - Danika

Don't do this as it is a risk, bees will be drawn to it and it can spread disease between colonies. As well as risking bees consuming honey that might make them sick. The best thing to do is put out water filled with pebbles poking out of the water, so they can land and have a drink. -Kieran

Perhaps you could email us at info@honeyflow.com for further information troubleshooting this? We'd be happy to help you further. - Danika

Can you wait until all the frames are full? and harvest all the frames on the same day?
@FlowHive
@FlowHive 2 жыл бұрын
You can, but for your first harvest it is best to harvest one Flow Frame at a time to get a better understanding of the process and what to expect. Ensuring all Flow Frames are fully capped a full harvest is possible but keeping up with jars can be tricky and combining honey into one bucket will mean you are mixing honey varieties. You will find each Flow Frame contains honey from a different source. -Kieran

Hey bro I'm a couple days in on being a beekeeper now I saved a wild hive I took everything about 40-50 lbs of bees in their honey babies I bought thim a new house but these are wild animals so I'm just let him do their own thing I have the new house next toum I see thim go in and out of it a couple times but not a lot of them and I don't think they're moving in but they might like what I already have them in I have them in a like a big plastic pipe that's like about 4 ft tall and like all around the full diameter maybe like three maybe 3 and a half feet and that's what I put them in when I took them and I noticed a little decline in my bees I didn't water them for like a day or two cuz they're wild animals I didn't know they need to be watered and I'm thinking maybe that's it but they're they're doing still good now maybe if they're comfortable do they do they not swarm as much when there comfy I'm not sure I really love these guys it's my first time ever having babies I've always wanted to have bees I found the opportunity where I needed to save some the tree they were in fell down and they were going to be exterminated so I went there and suited up and I only got stung about 20 times I took everything methodical like layered it in order the way they had it I hope I got the queen and I hope I don't have nothing to worry about cuz I took everything so if I don't have the queen one of them knowing they're wild animals I'm know they're going to be able to handle it they're. Super mean ones fighting the wasps and everything and cuz I have wasps around but the WASP now like I don't see you oic1 wasps flying around that's it and yeah and usually like when I'm having a barbecue there be like 40 wasps flying around now there's like none flying around 6:35 at night I got about 50 bees flying around I can see in a little 50 bee swarm during the first two days of having hundreds of bees flying around though in swarms maybe thousands even so I'm scared I hope they're going to be all right I've been watering them now so there was a day maybe a day and a half that I didn't give thim water and I noticed a decline after that and I'm just really scared I noticed these B's love me now though it gets really hot where I live at so I got there pipe all insulated with like blankets and sheets over it and 3 on barelas and a blanket that kind of blocks the Sun and their new house right next to him if they want to move in they can they are wild animals and I don't want to move them twice and fear of that if I have the queen in there that I wanted to stay in there and I don't want to hurt her if she is and I don't wanna mess with the bees anymore they might like the new house better than the old there they might like the old house better than the new house that reason why I say old houses cuz I've had this pipe laying around for years I don't even know why I brought it home but now I do really really glad I brought that pipe home just random plastic pipe without it I wouldn't have been able to save these bees I had nothing else I could have put them in like you know I brought home for no reason you know what I mean I guess it was meant to be I'm not still in there honey or anyting I want them to make sure that they just flourish cuz they're so important and I love him so much and now if they do move in this new house with the little slots and all the honey Grabbers then I definitely will steal some money from him but right now they're not in a position I can take any money from them and the pipe there in his kind of like you know I'm not going to mess with them in there already got stung 20 times moving them here Devel hot Scotts Valley California just a random bum with like 50000 roommates now saving the world like I said I know how important these guys are I was woke up from a god-like conscience from a dead sleep and told to go and save them now otherwise they're going to be gone in the morning started about 7:30 at night and was out of there before 10 one bad thing to the whole thing is that I think there was some sabotage or something around this whole thing because after I left the the stump that the bees were in was caught on fire or something like that so it burned and now the cops gave me a ticket for it and so I left at 10 and this was 4 in the morning when they found some fire there and I really don't think I did it I think it was some type of jealousy going on being said I'm just some punk that they think with no experience and some other people with other experience with no initiative that's what it is and also I think they already paid the Exterminator some type of sabotage I'm thinking at least it's only a misdemeanor I'm going up against and to save thim I would have burned down the whole f****** building instead if that was part of it trust they are more important in the building hypothetical arsonry you might find a lot of typos and also no punctuations love Satoshi Nakamoto I can't use them anymore

Other than looking at every frame, how would you know if your queen has squeaked through the excluder?
@FlowHive
@FlowHive Жыл бұрын
Hey Bill, You would be able to tell as brood comb is a bit darker than honey comb, or if you could even notice larvae hatching there in inspections, and also due to the cells size it is more likely that drones would be reared in the Flow Frames. So this would have the bulbous cappings typical for drone brood. It's rare but can happen! Let us know if we can further assist at all. - Danika

D May next time you do a brood inspection, just take what you get while doing maintenance and smear it onto the flow frames using the hive tool. Cedar has spoken on this in previous videos so if you search back, you could find that. He also mentioned some people have melted wax and painted it onto the flow frames. If your brood box is strong and doing well, they should want to move up to the super.

Hey Shawn, Thanks for your question :) We do have a warehouse in Canada so we can ship to you there quite easily. If to the Phillipines instead we can arrange this but it will likely be more considerably more expensive as we'd need to ship from Australia. It's also important to source your bees and queens as locally as possible - your local beekeeping club is generally the best place to do this. Especially given current postal delays we have heard very sad cases of shipped queens dying in transit, so best to avoid this as much as possible. Please email us at info@honeyflow.com to arrange a quote for shipping to the Phillipines or any further questions you might have. - Danika

You will need to search online for local beekeepers or a local supplier, speaking with clubs can help you get the contacts. There are queen breeders and bee breeders.
