Us belfast natives have the native belfast accent, very broad, the culshies say hay at the end of every sentence, 10 mins out of belfast on any route and the accent changes so much, the lisburn accent is very similar to ours, however any seaside town on the east coast is very Scottish sounding, ya can hear the influence in it, we are ulster scotch, or scots irish to our american friends, our DNA is of ancient britons with a flash of norse viking from the raids/settlements over a thousand years ago, warriors at heart and every battle since our existence in the british wars we have played a massive roll in gaining the victories, even rodgers rangers in the US army are of scotch irish and even to this day are engrained in that regiment. I think it's really interesting that a lot of things you've described, such as "ing" becoming "in," and the dropping of the final "t" sound, are common in Appalachian American English. In the US, this area was settled by immigrants referred to as "Scots-Irish."

The closest to "What's the craic" in American English would be "What's the scoop?" - this is coming from a Croat who has spent more than 1/2 of her life in the US (both west and east coast). Instead use the flatter 'a', a bit like the French nasal 'a'. (2) Don't use words like "craic" that uniquely identify you as from Northern Ireland. It might also help if you would speak a little slower. There now, your dead on (that's one of our expressions by the way).
