This video is a little longer than most, but it had to be. Contact point is the pillar of all strokes in the game. Most times when we miss a shot it comes from poor contact point. So, in this video I help with sorting out how to improve yours quickly. HAVE FUN😁

Wow. This is a lecture that take an illusive concept like timing, and breaks it down in simple way that students can understand. Bravo, professor.

i actually been looking into martial arts like karate, and a lot of inner workings an adjustment on movement and form I think is very relevant to tennis. I don't look at contact point as something static, I think it is something we cannot predict nor know in time, I concerntrated on reach. and if the form allows reach so any variantion of contact point in timing and stuff is eliminated.

I’ve incorporated these concepts into my practice and have already seen improvements. Movement - lateral sense Reading what the ball is going to do . Zones ! 3,2,1 … 1,2,3 Timing - forward and backward movement Reading - Hitting Fast balls back at opponent - Do a complete motion in the shortest amount of time. You’ll pause in the middle of taking the racquet back then … accelerate! Hitting Slow balls back - start the swing when the ball is further away from you. The swing motion is the same. Early swing preparation!

I have watched a LOT of tennis tutorials and this one is way up there in value. Simple, Brief and Comprehensive at the same time. Thank you so much. New subscriber. Looking forward to watching more videos from you. You've made me realize that The Contact Point is the most important point. Would you agreed that the next important point is The Follow Through?

You put the 'umbrella' being the intensity. I noticed in my recent games that intensity makes the most difference for me in matches. my challenge is bringing the intensity up. low intensity affects all my shots. reading, zones, space - great concept.

That's common. Slowly increasing level is trick. If you make too big of a jump then you'll find the miss hits start creeping in

after practicing the lateral zone spacing, my shots felt so good! every other channel always has some "gimmick" with this fundamental (e.g., practice with a chair under your arm) but your examples can be done with less equipment and is more applicable in actual matches or rallies.

another thing that came up today while practising match situations: I realised that in matches I tend to have lower intensity, get to the stroke too late (lack of footwork). I noticed that especially against opponents that return a slower ball and shorter ball to my serve / forehand. So in this practise my partner plays a ball to my forehand crosscourt which I return to his forehand. he then returns a shorter ball to my backhand forcing me to run towards it from the forehand side to be in position in time. goal is to hit that backhand topspin and deep enough and come to the net. So I suppose to either hit it down the line and cover the backhand volley side; or cross court and follow up with good position forehand side volley. 2nd exercise is I play my forehand down the line, my partner returns to my backhand and we open the point. again I am supposed to really step into the backhand and play it preferably cross court. In conclusion it helps me practise my intensity on my backhand. Hopefully I can translate that in my next match. Sorry this is a long comment - just thought I share my experience .

No problem at all, I like things like this🤓 The practice makes sense just pre-select what intensity you want to execute the drill at. That would be my only piece of advice

Super video, i will save it on my " Top list best tutorial " , i will watch it again and again, many details, " zone 4.3.2 " perfect :o now we need a good phisique condition. Do u will have some video about Fitness and movement, cardio ? I noticed its all about the legs, if we are super light and feel good about run, tennis get easier :o u are a great coach ( i had 5 in real, they didnt gave me so much detail, they was like ball machine )

6:49 - That's really interesting - I was never consciously aware of this and I wonder if it's the reason why since I learned proper forehand technique my strokes have become slower. Because I've learned to do it the slow way as you show it. I never learned that for faster forehands I should pause and then finish the stroke quickly. Would be interesting to see a dedicated video on the topic of forehand speed.

Could you maybe do a follow up on how to deal with a slice and dice pusher? I've been playing on clay with this guy who's very athletic and gets to everything but often he'll push a ball back with an open face and it'll land short with backspin so it sits up and somehow I just can't help but over-run it when I go to attack the ball. I feel like I'm probably running up with a lot of anxiety but I can't quite figure out how to adjust my timing to what feels like it should be an easy ball. : /

Coach Will, would you do a tutorial about running forward to hit a clean forehand on a returned low short ball from the opponent after I served. I tend to squash it back most of the time but I wanted to swing solid across the net. What are the main elements skill wise and mental wise ? Thanks

Great class as always I have good timing with my forehand But I struggle a lot with my one handed backhand in fast balls and also balls out of hitting zone (too high or too low) Could you post a video about this topic? Specific timing of one handed BH. It's difficult, sometimes I feel I don't have time to prepare earlier the backswing and end up slicing or eving blocking the ball with two hands... BTW, is it OK to be a one hander and sometimes hit with two hands just to block a fast and deep ball?
