Another mind blown. I have taken more golf lessons than a normal person should. Now with the introduction of social media, I come across videos that I perceive as the “missing link” in all the instructions I have received; then this priceless gem falls out of the sky into my head. This lesson really does make the golf phrase that golf is played from the ground up come to life. I always heard it but never understood nor ever applied until now. Thank you so much for sharing. You probably haven’t heard the last of me.

Giles, were back for more insights. Your demo early in the video is the famous "Snead Squat" made famous by the great Sam Snead. This I think is made simpler by the club placed across your chest drill you showed earlier in a different video. Pointing the butt end to the ball. This new impact position drill takes it one step further. Another layer to the cake!! Within five years I believe youll be recignized for what you already are. The best golf instructor in the world.

Hi there, This is the first time I've stumbled across you. Just wanted to add a comment right away. You are the quickest speaking and most concise coach on the Internet. Thank you for saving me time, time I'll be spending at the range and not sat on my are arse watching videos. I'll be sure to let you know how I get on. I was a consistent 6 handicapper last year and this year I've slipped to 9. My short game is cat 1 as I've spent hours and hours around the greens. My main problem is consistent ball striking. My buddy has told me I'm coming slightly over the top resulting in a pull for me and usually this happens when I give 95% instead of 85% exertion.

Great videos. Do the arms drop as you shift your weight before you start to rotate? and are you pushing off your trail side to start your weight shift?
@Gilesgillgolf
@Gilesgillgolf Жыл бұрын
Great question. Yes the arms drop in transition as you’re shifting. (watch the tour pros know this video for more details on this) naturally most players push off their trail leg enough so it happens but usually you don’t need to think about it
@tomb4060
@tomb4060 Жыл бұрын
How do you feel about the thought of slight sway of the ribcage and turning that out of the way. Your video of the bringing the arms straight down and using the club as the laser pointer have helped greatly. I'm a low 80s golfer. I use those drills but my thought on the downswing is getting the left side of the rib cage up and out of the way. That takes care of everything else
@Gilesgillgolf
@Gilesgillgolf Жыл бұрын
There always have to be a shift towards the target where the upper and lower body stays stacked so yes it will be like that
@tomb4060
@tomb4060 Жыл бұрын
@@Gilesgillgolf thank you for the response and your videos and explanations are so on point. You should have more followers. I use your weight shift onto the left leg then my thought is straightening the left leg and rib cage out of the way like I said. Only on the range lol. My thought when I'm golfing is a simple 1-2-3 for my tempo. Works for me. Thanks again. One more question. I average about 275 on my driver. But I feel like I swing differently than my irons. Should I try this as well for driver. I'm sharing your videos with my golf league buddies and telling them to follow.

Good info here Giles. My question is: does your left arm/ side provide all the power or your right arm?? Both equal?? Thank you!
@Gilesgillgolf
@Gilesgillgolf Жыл бұрын
The arms are only part of the power source. The legs, the rotation, the arms, wrists and hands all provide power. It’s a full body motion so both side are providing power. Different players might feel like their right or left side provides more but they’re both relatively equal

Giles, can you explain further when you say push into the ground at a 45 degree angle? Is that a feeling like your pushing into the ground towards right field for a right-handed golfer?
@Gilesgillgolf
@Gilesgillgolf Жыл бұрын
My baseball terminology isn’t great but I believe it would be pushing into the ground between 1st and 2nd base. Another way of looking at it is you’re pushing at 10.30 on the clock if the ball is 12. Does that make sense?
@roll62
@roll62 Жыл бұрын

Hi, just a question, in Tommy iron video he pull his left hip back at the start of downswing to achieve the squat-like move. How is that relate to pushing left leg to create rotation ?
@Gilesgillgolf

If you push into the left leg your leg will gain flex. That will cause the hip to generate more depth and create that squat move
