If only all KZbin videos were as helpful as yours are. Great video man. In the middle of doin this myself. Never wrapped headers before and went with the 2", much harder to maneuver in order to avoid too much overlap.

Every video I've watched so far - says not to exceed the 1/4" overlay or it can damage your tubes making them too hot and become brittle as a result. Hope It's ok. Thanks for post.

Just got my wrap today headers will be here on Tuesday so I can start wrapping my headers and probably change out my manifolds on my 14 ram. Like you I already did the bolt change out but I believe I got a broken stud again on each side so round 2 here we go

Beautiful work on the header wrapping man! Clean and slick too, guess we can call you the Martha Stuart of header wrapping and wiring 🤣 love the vids and keep spitting them out brother!

Haha thanks John! It was very time consuming but the end result turned out great!

You can spray the silicone spray on bare stainless headers and let it dry. Then put your wrap on. The previous coating of silicone helps prevent slipping. Works great!

Looks good. When I used to wrap Harley pipes, I always soaked the wrap in water. It would help with the slipping and also would shrink to the pipes as it dried. However, I never had to wrap such a complex tight design. Well done.
@BoostedMotorsports6 жыл бұрын
Yeah that is the case with regular header wrap but this titanium stuff specifically states not to wet it. 😎

I wonder are you going to put the truck on the dyno after you do the header install . I'm interested in what kind of gain you get for my project/ daily driver 2012 DODGE 1500 Hemi 2dr 2wd short bed.

Hey Bill I did dyno the truck for fun on a sketchy mobile dyno in high humidity heat on the canned tune just for fun. I'll have that video out soon! 👍

Was it harder to install them after you wrapped them up??
@brianpreston41216 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I showed my friend he wants to try this idea on his bbk shorty headers v6. You think one roll should be good enough to do both headers. They have lots of gaps in them enough to go around every inch of them. And where did you get the zip ties from. We're both doing this now on our cars
@BoostedMotorsports6 жыл бұрын
Thats awesome! It might be close but I still think you will need more than 1 roll. It disappears pretty quickly! They sell it in different widths but this 1" stuff works better for tight bends. 👍
@brianpreston41216 жыл бұрын
@@BoostedMotorsports I uses 1" titanuim. One was way plenty. Sealed it with the sealant. Waiting to put in my car. Bbk shorty headers. Cat delete. But ordered high performance cats. Y pipe delete straight from the cats to the dual exhaust.

You can spray dei high temp silicone on the headers before wrapping to help with the slip.

I'm pulling the trigger on this wrap. How has it held up so far?
@A32035036 жыл бұрын
So what is the difference between this titanium wrap and standard wrap? Besides colour?
@BoostedMotorsports6 жыл бұрын
Its just supposed to be better quality, plus its more pliable and you don't need to soak it in water to get a tighter wrap.
@06ramsport2 жыл бұрын
I have a question for you I have the same headers you have what wrap size do you recommend 1 inch or 2 inch just to make sure the coverage is good
@SmittDirt475 жыл бұрын
Thoughts on how much wrap you'd need for long tubes? Have a set of aFe en route and want to keep the heat down
@BoostedMotorsports5 жыл бұрын
Long tube you could probably do the 2" stuff since it doesnt have as many crazy bends and get at least two 50 foot rolls
@SmittDirt475 жыл бұрын
@@BoostedMotorsports I ended up just grabbing the 1" x 100ft.. dude I tried ordering the one you linked and it told me it was restricted to my address in California lol I thought about getting the 2" too. Oh well lol

why not just get them powder coated? I hade Hooker Super competition headers that where ceramic coated on my last Corvette and they where so good! You could have your hand half an inch from them when engine was hot!

The insulated heat wrap actually works better plus it is far more cost effective. Everything altogether was about $80 for two 50' rolls, metal ties and the tool. Jet Hot coating which is the number one company is several hundreds of dollars plus shipping back and forth which isn't cheap given the size and weight. On top of all this many people have found the coating to come off prematurely. 😎

Thats sucks, I was whery happy with Hookes Coating. Hade them for ~13 years till I sold the Vette (not many miles for that time)

Nice neat job. When you handheld the camera it makes it hard to see what you’re doing because you moving it so jerkily, it also makes me motion sick 🤢. I just watched an ETCG video where he used the same product and he mentioned that the wrap has a sewn edge and a woven edge and it’s important you get it the right way around but you didn’t mention it and I couldn’t see if you had done it correctly. Your wedging the wrap by doing a double fold was a good idea as was doing the same on the end nearest the engine to stop it fraying. I also saw a video from the manufacturer and they make a spray you can either apply to the header or spray on the wrap after application to stop it slipping off.

Stainless steel hose clamps of various sizes where needed work just as good, or better, than the stainless steel tie wraps out there. Good job wrapping there as I had to do the same for a 1998 Dodge RAM 1500 5.9L Magnum v8 budget stainless headers from eBay. Also, Remflex 100% graphite gaskets are The Bomb & better than Fel-Pro.

Hey looking to do the same and upgrade my headers but have the original OEM bolts can you list the part number for the Mopar bolts you purchased in theother video and the new locking bolts. Thanks in advanced

Why do headers get wrapped?
@kurtmccann1376 жыл бұрын
the stock headers must put off a ton of heat since they are straight up iron cast
@BoostedMotorsports6 жыл бұрын
For sure! 😎
@Internet_Handles_Are_Dumb5 жыл бұрын
Stock manifolds are actually made to contain a lot of heat with the cast iron compared to aftermarket headers. Anyone putting headers in a vehicle should definitely do this before install. Some might not notice any under hood temps going up depending on the vehicle and amount of driving. But over some time most will notice things getting melty or brittle from not having heat mitigation like a wrap or coating.

Did you ask JBA if the wrap voids the warranty? Over my years of header installs they all had a disclosure with wrapping would void the warranty. Also on a side question I notice most of the time you are in a large warehouse of some sort. Lucky you but is that yours or have a business? I know none of my business just thought how lucky you are for such a convenience.

Please excuse my ignorance here. I never installed headers, hell I never owner a car prior to my Ram where I could use them. My question, is it absolutely necessary to use wrapping on headers? I understand it helps with the heat transfer. Pleiades no stupid or smart comments. I’m being serious. There’s always that “know it all” that has to put someone down.
