“you should not think about food more than you think about yourself” ..it’s such an obvious sentence but it still hit me hard bc that’s exactly what i am doing: thinking more about food than myself.

When you said that people eat because they don’t want to face a feeling I had such a realization about myself. The past 6 months I’ve been telling myself I’m restricting food (always ends in binge eating) to be healthy and to love myself when ever i become skinny but now I see that I have to love myself right now, I have to face my anxiety and depression episodes for not liking my body and start a self love journey. I’ve seen so many videos on this topic trust me lol but this is by far the best one. Thank you so much for sharing this advice I’m so grateful because now I kind of see a light at the end of the tunnel. xo :)

what you said at 5:40 is so true! eating healthy can turn into an obsession and a tool to control myself, as if when i eat intuitively i'll only eat junk food, which isn't true because when i eat mindfully and not out of boredom or to numb, i gravitate towards healthy food! (PS you look like emilia clarke, you're so pretty!)

I woke up this morning faced with a struggle right away. This is something I have been dealing with for years. Your words are like light and speaking to my soul. I'm ready to end my suffering and my struggles, I think it might take some time but the universe guided me directly here and I feel good about it. Thank you

2 years ago this idea was brought to me through your video. And 2 years later I feel like it's actually taken root and started to blossom. Without changing my habits too much and really restructuring my inner world and my thoughts I have gotten to the lowest weight I've been since I was in high school. You're a light worker!

You are so calming, i was sitting here having anxiety because my mother brought home pizza. I have deep anxiety of running out of food and feeling hungry, i was about to cry, shaking and chugging water since i want to keep 200 below my calorie deficit for the day. I might turn to this video next time I'm feeling this way because i just feel so much better listening to you. Thank you.

i binge because i used to restrict a lot and it always begins when i eat the first meal of the day and then even when my stomach feels perfectly full i just have to eat more because i just feel this feeling that i have to make the most of the time when i eat (i need something salty, sweet, bitter...). I know it sounds kinda stupid but thats the way it is and i just can’t stop and don’t know what to do :(. I’ve even tried intuitive eating and it’s still the same. I have know idea what that means. Thank you for your video by the way, i picked on some great advice :)

You are the LAST person I would have expected to have a problem with food. I look at you and think you’re one of those people who stays naturally thin by just eating less and not depending on food. I have had SO many issues with food, from anorexia to binge eating and all around planning my entire life around food. When I had anorexia, I restricted for control. When I had binge eating disorder, I ate to try to feel something besides numbness. I was so depressed that I felt nothing and hoped to feel something, anything, by eating food. I’d eat foods I wasn’t even hungry for just as a desperate attempt to feel again. I honestly hate eating food because I don’t feel I can eat normally without making my life revolve around food. It’s so hard.

Claire Samuels thanks for sharing ✨♥️ its a tough journey but there is help out there. I saw a nutritionist and she really helped me out. I just want to say this is one of the best videos I've seen that helps me understand what is truly going on and what the root of my issues are. I have tried to do the necessary practical steps (e.g. mindful eating), but my bad habits and thoughts always come back. Addressing what's going on inside has never occurred to me as part of the process, which has led to my failures in fully recovering from my past. Self-love is definitely something I've been struggling with, and this is everything I needed to hear. Thank you so much!!

Thank you I’m crying right now as we speak and I really want you to know that you’re helping me. I’m on a weight loss journey and the physical part is easy you know working out walking thus and that. But my mind..my mind is damaged and I know a lot of ppl have said it’s a mental thing rly for weight loss and I’m truly understanding that. I had a mental break down and cried my moms arm. I’m 19 yes old and I’ve been struggling and I’m finally taking the time to properly heal. Everything you said about hiding from an emotion that’s exactly true. Before even finding this I wrote to myself in my notes explaining how I use food and that was one of the first things I said, I run from my emotions with food so you’re exactly right with everything

This is the best video I’ve seen on this topic, and I’ve seen virtually every video on KZbin for the past three years. You hit the main point on spot. The cause was avoiding my anxiety, and the problem is not binge eating per say but rather not giving myself all the focus I deserve. I also have a tendency to eat very clean, which may be orthorexia, because I didn’t trust myself enough that I won’t eat clean if I didn’t control what I eat. I think I’ve been compensating that “clean eating” by eating more in quantity. Thank you for this video.

I realize that issues with food are super common and we seem to ONLY talk about the extreme cases when in fact anyone who’s suffering in any way deserves help. Good luck on your food journey! You got this ♥️

Thank you, so much- i needed this so much, but i only could try fix my problem now. My parents, no-one knows i have this issue, so i cant get therapy or anything like that. You helped me out so much by giving me thing advice, all i can do now in return is actually act on it, act on what i have been taught. It will be a trial and error process, but i have learnt to trust the process and enjoy it rather than focus on the result. all i can hope is to take the errors properly and learn from my mistakes instead of condemning myself. thank you, giving me advice like this is such a blessing. hope you're doing well now!

I am so sorry you are going through this. Have you considered therapy? I hear that you feel isolated which makes the process harder but there are some cheap options for online counselling. Wow. This was truly a revelation. I realised how it always happens that I start thinking of food when I am just super bored and don't know what to do with my time. It's just that lately I can't find activities that entertain me enough to stop thinking about food. But, for example, when I am at school I never end up thinking about food cause my mind is already so full of information, it can't also make space for food. But when I come back to school without anything planned for the afternoon and the evening, that's when the thoughts come in. I want to understand which activities help me to stop thinking of food and which ones just increase the amount of thoughts cause they are not entertaining enough. When I hang out with friends or go to the gym, I don't get any thoughts like that. But staying at home is just so hard for me. I don't find anything really interesting, and to fulfil that emptiness I end up thinking about food. Thank you for sharing this content, i am so grateful. And to everybody else struggling, dive deep inside yourselves to find out which kind of emptiness you are trying to fill with food, I love you and support you from the bottom of my heart.

I feel like there really isn’t an emotion I’m avoiding.. I feel like I’m just addicted to food. Like I want to eat healthy because I feel so so much better when I do.. but when something sounds good even if I’m not hungry it’s like I can’t stop thinking ab it and I have like literal withdrawl symptoms, and then when I eat it it’s like dopamine instant just relief. And then I feel sick afterwards even if I don’t binge. And the more I restrict or think ab stopping eating the things I do it makes me think ab and obsess over food even more…
