Thanks for the video! Earlier days "smiley face" EQ curve appeared on most of our sound systems because acoustic weakness on the lower end and magnetic tape limitations on higher end.

I was just going to write as you were describe it =] ... yes, enhancing the high frequencies - and conversely attenuating the low-mid frequencies - will tend to enhance the perceived stereo width. I've been utilizing mid-side processing where I cut the lows and boost the highs on the sides while cutting the highs on the mid. This way, I can get a focused centre and a wider stereo field.

I use landr for mastering because I've never been entirely sure what I should do on masterbus vs what is actually mastering. A lot of times I compress, eq, spread and add a little saturation on masterbus before uploading to landr. Wonder if this tip would help the masters if still retaining headroom. I like what it's doing to the mix

Hey Joe, just reaching out for your help here please. please do a tutorial for using capture with the computer n not the SD card on studiolive (I have the 32s) please.... I got through with everything but after I saved the scene and ready to go back to live sound I don't get any audio sound, no audio input. I do change back from usb to network but still no audio and the gain is up.

Sadly, I could hear no difference. Even the "big and obvious" bits sounded the same. Initially I listened with eyes closed and couldn't hear any difference so I listened again, watching for the cues and I still couldn't hear any difference. I guess my hearing is worse than I'd been kidding myself

If you can't hear that, it's a good thing. MBCs, especially on the masterbuss shouldn't be set too aggresively. The moment the listener notices the MBC, it's a sign the masterbuss is "overcooked".

Yes! Generally in mixing, it’s great for tonally complex instruments (drums, keys, synths, and even vocals* or bass* occasionally!) and as Joe described in the video, it can be a real asset for taming frequencies in the particular “lanes” they occupy. *Experiment with only using two bands on these to really separate and hear the “mud” from the “bite”
