How to Hem Jeans with Keepeing Original Hem

It is difficult to hem jeans on a household sewing machine, especially to get a factory-made original seam of the finishing stitch. But you can not only facilitate the execution of the hem jeans, but also preserve the original stitch of the jeans hem. In this video, I'll show you how to hem jeans with keeping the original hemming stitch. You don't even need an overlocker. You can overcast the cut jeans fabric with a zigzag.
To correctly determine the hem line, you need to add an allowance of 1.5 - 2 cm upwards to the jeans trim line. It is necessary to apply the original jeans hem line to this line.

Measure the difference in width at the original hem seam and where you want the new seam to be. Knowing how much you’ll need to take it in, you can sew a slightly deeper inseam to narrow the original hem width. There are many good youtube videos that demonstrate exactly that (hemming bootcut/flare jeans or hemming skinny jeans). I highly recommend watching some of those first. Happy sewing!

I would use a heavy duty or jeans needle and the foot is called a zipper foot. I have two sewing machines and both come with it.

No need to manually. If your sewing machine does not have a removable table, you will also need to sew on the inside jeans, only the second edge will be facing you, uptowards. Jeans are sown on industrial sewing (heavy duty) machines, but most people would have regular table top sewing which can duplicate this kind of finish only to some extent. You of course can try to replicate it, but I don't think it will look the same.

There is no other way to shorten jeans and keep the original hem. This is a tricky way, it does not provide 100 effect. Only buying normal length without cutting jeans guarantees 100% results.
