What happens if Cloaked shuts down one day, unexpectedly, and you can't then log in to websites you need as the number and email addresses are now invalid? It appears that you're reliant on them staying around. I'd prefer this to be self-hosted.

Ive never seen a shut down happen instantly. I’ve always seen companies give you a few months to update your info or migrate your data.

In the very low chance something were to happen to us, we would absolutely provide a detailed transition and migration plan. Our goal is to fight for people's privacy and continue as a business!

This looks like a great service but it would definitely lock you into their ecosystem. Imagine if they made a change to the service, such as increasing the cost, that you didn't agree with. It would not be a small task to migrate away. With other services such as Addy, which yes only supports email, at least you can bring your own domain and just update the MX records if or when you need to migrate to another service.

Your card was likely declined if it is not from the United States. We are hoping to launch in the UK by the end of Q1 2024, into early Q2 2024. This is subject to change. Two questions arise..The first is with the cloaked email adress, many sites might not accept this email for an accountname. I have had this in the past with hotmail, live and gmail account and certainly when I used the email adress provided by my internet provider. The second question is, you say email is directed to you desktop, but this must go through a server somewhere in (the US?) and then gets to you, therefor it is the vpn service for emails am I correct? If so how long will they retain you email and will it go through a encrypted tunnel. Cheers ron

Hi Shannon. Not sure if it's just me or what. I had zero problems with sending text both ways no problem between Andriod to Iphone. So I can get text message from Iphone, but when I try texting IPHONEs back they don't get my text message. Not sure if it's when Iphones got its IOS update. I tried tweeting google but there net getting back to me. If you think it's good enough for you to do a Video on, and if there's a fix. Thanks love the show.

That can certainly be tricky, although we don't love when sites do this! Short term, most sites don't have Google SSO only Short and medium term, our identities can often be used to create Google Accounts, and we are working on more tools to ensure that our credentials are accepted at Google Long term, we hop for users to be able to SSO via Cloaked directly!

That is super interesting. The Alias creation for emails with the likes of Proton etc is one thing but this seems to take it to a whole other level in the auto generation side of things, plus the phone number obfuscation. It would be nice to see it with the ability to handle multiple core email addresses so you can maintain the email segmentation whilst simultaneously auto generating new emails. Definitely going on the keep an eye on list.

That's interesting feedback! Most of the functionality is currently contained in our category feature - you can make a couple of core Categories where you put your most important identities and then can make other, smaller-throwaway categories for your less important identities. Inbox can be filtered by message type (email, text, call) as well as by category or specific identity, so we find that this level of customization works pretty well! You should try it out - and if it doesn't work for you, let us know! We always welcome user feedback.

@@keepitcloaked honestly I don't have the bandwidth to even try at the moment. I definitely will give it a go at some point though. Although I'm based in the UK, so not sure if it's even compatible. @@ShannonMorse I'm always amazed to hear about seemingly healthy and beautiful actors and actresses (and KZbinrs) that have health issues or even psychological issues. It makes sense in some cases that some people just aren't suited to a regular job but do great in short spurts. I'm old and have cancer and survived another cancer as well as assorted other health issues. I love to say that my heart and lungs are the only thing that I don't have problems with for some reason. Covid did a number on my lungs though. I'm hoping diet and exercise can fix your problems but don't be too afraid of surgery. Just be careful to pick a good surgeon if that's the solution. I had a problem with my leg and two of them wanted to basically disable me but a third had a different solution and I'm still walking around.
