Humm, Chrome is the most popular web brower and if you hard shutdown and start a PC then Chrome will ask to "restore pages" as it wasn't closed properly, restoring pages will bring you back to the same full page web browser scam and now the person is convinced they have been hacked.

A long time ago, I made a KZbin comment where I mentioned that I have a Vanguard investment account. At the time, my KZbin name was my real name. Shortly afterward, I got an email from Vanguard about failed login attempts. I figure the criminal didn't have my password, but he correctly guessed my username as first-initial-last-name. So, from that scary experience, I stopped using usernames based on my real name. Now, all my usernames look like qrewoiuad or vdsoiufrekn (random letters), and they're different for every account. I haven't had a failed login attempt since.

USA needs a national privacy law that makes databrokers go away and holds other big tech companies accountable for selling our private data to begin with. I've worked a few jobs in banking/finance IT, and it's frustrating how behind the 8-ball banks in USA are with implementing open MFA standards like FIDO2 and TOTP! If they do any MFA, it's gross SMS or maybe e-mail.

i was a little miffed when signing up for a government website (DHS or something) it immediately asked me 'do you recognize this address?' and a few of my former address' were listed BEFORE I EVEN LOGED IN FOR THE FIRST TIME... ugh. A scammer called me impersonating google tech support. Then another scammer called me impersonating Coinbase tech support. He told me to click on the cloud icon. He had access to my google account. Clicking on the cloud icon allowed him access to my Coinbase account. I was lucky I didn't lose my crypto.

I work in cybersecurity. Here are some other tips that I can give all of you: Practice basic operatinal security (OPSEC). 1. Don't post any sensitive information on any of your social media platforms such as where you live, where you're traveling to, where you work and your phone number. Most social networking platforms will publicly present this information that you are willing to provide, meaning that literally anyone can see this information. 2. When traveling, either for business or leisure, don't post about where you're going or what you're going to do until after you return home from your trip. As stated before, this information becomes public and anyone can see it and determine where you are and where you're going. 3. When taking and posting photos or videos, be cognizant of where you take them and what's shown in your photos/videos. If on business or on a military deployment, DO NOT take photos or videos of any recognizable or identifiable structures or locations. Additionally, TURN OFF YOUR GEOTAGGING when taking photos/videos, uploading photos/videos online and/or sending photos/videos to your friends and family via messanger or texting apps. (I know you guys LOVE using TikTok and Snapchat. Please be aware of what I stated above!) 4. When using Facebook, turn off the check-in feature. This feature automatically notifies your Facebook friends of places that you've been to that have public wifi connections that your phone has pinged, such as fast food restaurants and even hospitals and clinics. BEWARE OF THIS FEATURE! Stalkers often use this feature to track people!
