Yes, I had foiled highlights but I didn't want anything too harsh, & I just painted a few strands all over my head & Voila, I LOVE it! I would buy it again definitely!

I've tried the balayage kit from Esalon and I CANNOT complain. I love how my hair looks. The instructions in the kit are more descriptive and easier to follow then the video. This video is not helpful in anyway and should be replaced with a new video that includes a REVEAL. It's a great product but misleading to the consumer.

Rest assured, results are outstanding! I've used this kit and I'm not a paid endorser or influencer. By far it is THE BEST diy highlight kit ever!! I've been highlighting for over 30 years ...eg 'frost-n-tip sun-in' era! Being able to 'paint' on the highlight mixture without foils made me think that it couldn't really lift enough to give a real lightening effect, but it does! Even on my 'black Pearl' base color, and without any orange or weird blue undertones. How did they do this? The formula dries up quickly, which keeps it from transferring or dripping, all with foil! If the product wasn't amazing enough, esalon customer service is unparalleled! Recently I spilled my activator and I sent them an email wanting to buy a replacement.3 days later I found an entire replacement kit at my front door! 😁♥️ Go ahead ladies!!

I just got this product in the mail.... but I'm most definitely using foils which I ordered from Amazon. Don't like the idea of the product touching the rest of the hair. Because of the Covid, I have 7 months worth of growth. Looking forward to the results.

@@anjelicahernandez3180if you have a base color you have to do a root touch up color before you do the balayage highlights.

This is an old comment, but for anyone reading this in the future…..do not use foils. You will damage your hair. Balayage is meant to be an open air process. It’s supposed to be a subtle change for a lower maintenance look. This kit is using a clay based lightener which means it will not transfer to your other hair. If you foil it you may very well get patchy results. Foils cause the bleach to process faster and more intense as it locks in heat. Please just follow the instructions in the kit.

Just remember, home hair coloring/highlighting isn't just about application. It's also about knowledge. I've seen so many at home hair jobs from unlicensed people who overlap bleach or color like crazy because they don't have the knowledge to not do that.

ESalon has many videos that cover sectioning, application, extra information for resistant gray hair etc. They did a good job of that. Now you can’t make people watch them all, so I’ll give you that. But I’ve colored my roots many times with eSalon and the results are the same as going to the salon. ESalon’s hair color is $26, while my hairdresser charges $120 plus tip for a root touch up. I only go to my hairdresser for highlights now, the roots I always do with eSalon. My husband does the back for me, so my color comes out nice and even every time and I save a pile of money.

Toning puts color back in bleached hair. Yes it does fade over time, but eSalon sells a pigmented rinse that works great to refresh the toner color. They also sell toner kits to retone your highlights, I typically use that every 2-3 months. It gives me nicer results for toning my highlights than when I go to the salon, no joke. Their cool blonde toner kit always gets rid of any brassiness on my highlights.
