Great Video clip! Forgive me for butting in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you ever tried - Millawdon Goodbye Gray Trick (google it)? It is a good one of a kind guide for learning how to reverse gray hair fast without the headache. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my old buddy Taylor finally got great success with it.

Doing my second eSalon experience as I watch this. The first box was black blue dye, I normally dye my hair box black blue by Garnier Nutrisse. I was so excited to try the first set. I have dirty blonde roots so not much could really go wrong, or so i thought. I love the whole experience, the box is great very thought out, custom color with your name,stain remover, stain guard, gloves, shampoo and conditioner, even a sticker to hold up the directions! The color went on super thick, it looked like my hair took the color. I dye my hair and eyebrows, painted it on Charlie Chaplin style and let it sit for about same time as hair. I left dye in for longer than suggested, I got side tracked but had dye on hair for atleast 45 mins and half hour on brows. I followed my directions to the T, using the rest of the dye at the end as a wash. I was 99% sure I was going to have some dark and sultry refreshed black color, comparable or better than regular box dye. After washing the color out with the included shampoo (which is new to me in dying process) and conditioning (I have super long hair and ended up having to use my own conditioner. I do enjoy the conditioning process with my usual brand because my hair that feels like straw turns to silk as the condition hits). It did NOTHING. Nothing. Still dirty blonde roots. No eyebrows. I contacted their customer service and I'm on my second e salon box with about 1/3 blue to 2/3 black hoping for the best. I've read so many other great reviews. Hoping I come out of the shower a little more Morticia than when I went in. Thanks for reading this.

That’s really strange… sounds like the developer they gave you was too weak. How did your second round go? Are you still using them or did you go back to Garnier?

Add heat and that will open the shaft to absorb color better

I use henna to color my hair. I find that even after 6 hours of leaving henna on my hair I end up with some gray hairs in my temples. Suggestions please.

I have darker hair, and 20 volume only seems to lift to an orangey color and the color mixes with that, making it another tone than the rest of my neutral hair. All new growth that I just colored is now orangey brown at the roots. It's horrible. Should I use 30 vol for more lift? Cause the only way the orangey reddish stuff is somewhat covered is if I go dark black and that's too much. This has been a problem my whole life. Arg. Double ash just goes too green. 😖

I know this post is old but if you dye your roots first with half 20vol and half of half with water first and leave on for 20min, don’t wash off, then do the actual dye and 10 or 20vol. The roots have to be lighter first for it to go dark if that makes sense?

Yes, you can order only root color. If you get a promo where you get both bottles, they're the same formulation (or they were for me. Please check), you get an extra dye out of it. I got basically a free trial from Nift. And only had to pay the shipping.

Yes. I do my own roots in between salon appointments for highlights. They send me a root color and a toner every 6 weeks.

I have a PPD allergy and can only use Goldwell Elumen or Nectya color. They're the only safe products I can use. If you're allergic you need to get tested by an Allergist.

I have dark brown hair, I would like to cover the grey hair on my roots but would also like to change the color of my entire hair to a lighter brown shade. Do I apply the dye to all of my hair at the same time starting with the roots first? I heard some people apply the dye on their roots and leave it for 20 mins then apply the remaining of the dye on their entire hair and wait for another 20 mins? Help will be appreciated

If your completely changing colour then it's best to apply dye all over the hair and wait till it develops, usually bout 30 mins.

It depends if you're doing additive or subtractive color. If your lightening (bleach is subtractive. Taking color out of your hair) don't do your ends first because the heat from your head will process that color quicker. You'll end up with blonder roots and brassy ends, for example if you bleach your roots first. I love Brad Mondo, another youyuber who's so informative in a fun way.

You need to lighten the previous colour with a bleach bath.

just remember artificial dye (boxed at home dye) can not lift already dyed hair, it can only deposit color, thus possibly darken. To lift (lighten your hair) you need to use some form of bleach. If you've dyed your hair brown and you buy a blonde box color, you'll never get that color. The examples they show of possible results on the box are that color applied to white hair. It's Science, Chemistry, Math, Color Theory. Always do a strand test!! Mix just a tiny bit, seperate out a small strand, either cut out the strand & rubber band the end or leave the strand connected to your head & prossess it. See what happens. Know it before you blow it!

Did you tell them you didn’t have enough color for your hair? They’re supposed to send enough to cover your whole head. I’ve never had a problem with their customer service.
