Hi Jack, First off: what a wonderful video. This inspired me and my gf to take the same route you’ve walked, we’re just unsure about one thing, since we’ll be walking end of July (peak season) we’re wondering how you’ve managed with the different campsites / sleeping spots and what the availability is like. Did you book camping pitches ahead of time or just when you arrived? Thank you in advance!!

Thanks for the comment! We often found there was always at least one spare spot to camp during the high season when we went :) the hotels all book out well in advance, but camping is known to be pretty good. Call ahead if any issues - we just showed up (a group of 5 of us) and had no issues in 2023. Hope you have a good hike!!

Great detailed video. Thank you. Looking forward to do this trail aswell with some friends, just like you guys we will also have some time restrictions. Probably we only goona have around 4 or 5 days. What would be your adivise, at first we though about doing the section you guys missed there, would that be a good option or you would sugest other insted. Thank you

Hi Rui, both sections are great! If you have 5 days though I would recommend the one we did so you can pass through all countries and the picturesque pass between Italy and Switzerland. But it comes down to what you want to see/how far/high you want to walk?

Hi Jack Amazing video and very informative Was just wondering if I was to do similar or same route How much could I expect to spend Ie campsites food etc over the course of the thru hike? Roughly if possible Thanks

Hey thanks so much for the comment! Camping wise - you’re able to wild camp for free away from towns and houses. But if You choose a campsite - there’s one near the town of Portree, it is normally around £15. Food you can get from the grocery stores quite cheap, but if you stop at pubs/restaurants you can expect maybe £15-25 for a standard meal :) I wild camped and took my own stuff and think I spent a total of $100 (not including transport/flights)

@@JGals-Journey Whoops sorry about that 😅 In terms of campsites they were around 20-25 euros per person per pitch. Small meals in France and Italy are around 15 euros, maybe 25 for a larger meal/dinner. Switzerland everything was more expensive - camping 35 euros and large meals 30+ euros. We tended to stick to the grocery stores and loaded up with that as much as we could. I think in general you can expect to spend around 50 euros / day depending what you are eating for the most part
