Such an enthusiastic presenter. Now i want to sign up with you but honestly I want to do self guided or on my own. Enjoyed your very detailed and informative narration. Hoping to hike the TMB July of 2024. Thank you.

@@57hourshello, great video ! Do you still guide ? I am interested in going for June 1 2025. 3-4 people in my group. Coming from Canada and really like your ideas about the lodging and extra days to enjoy the special areas. I’m looking at various different guiding groups, but always try to support small business owners 😎

35:20 You are saying ''stiff mountain boots are a big NO''. Actually a professional outdoor shop recommended me category B/C hiking boots. 1. because I'm a beginner + I will carry a heavy backpack = category B / C shoes offer more ankle support = less chance to get an injury
@jameshussey4900 Жыл бұрын
They also want to sell you quite expensive boots. Trail runners are perfect for this trail.
@TravelHere Жыл бұрын
@@jameshussey4900 As a beginner I was happy to take category B or B/C boots. The extra kilo's of camping gear + food + accessoires can tough on a beginner's feet and angkles. + I bumped my feet onto loose rocks some times 😆
@Gretchen-ze2py7 ай бұрын
We were told the same thing by a retailer before we hiked the PCT - wrong, wrong. Trailrunners are - by far - the preferred footwear of long-distance hikers. Strengthen your ankles by training ahead of time - that will serve you better than wearing stiff heavy boots.

I'm currently planning for my TMB in 9/2024 and appreciate your shared experience and variant recommendations. Looks like I would have needed a few days more to master Mont de la Saxe and Mont Fortin ;-) Question: The one leading to Elisabetta is that 2km parallel trail above the main route, right? Not around Pyramides Calcaires?

Excellent presentation!! It’s just a dream for us at the moment but hoping to do this in summer 2024 so you’ve given us lots to think about!! Are the majority of accommodation locations, dog friendly?

Im hiking the TMB this september. What is the weather like mid to late september?
@leigha6275 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for this excellent presentation. So well organized, informative and illustrated with beautiful photos. A question - would it be useful to bring light traction devices that are designed to wear with trail runners, especially if you are coming during a period when snow and melting snow will be the ground, such as June (these types of devices, like Kahtoola Microspikes, are not full crampons and tend to be very light).
@57hours Жыл бұрын
Hi! This was asked in the Q&A, I do believe some microspikes would be good to bring but not entirely necessary if that's something you don''t have!
@leigha6275 Жыл бұрын
@@57hours Thank you very much for the advice. It seems like good lightweight insurance to bring, especially if snow conditions are unpredictable.

Great work !!!! Can I do the TMB and stay in refuges without booking in advance? Can I buy food at all the auberges as I pass by without pre booking? And are there lots of hotels if I can stay at a auberge ?
@57hours Жыл бұрын
Pre-booking is a must! You will have to go off the trail a bit to get to other hotels off the trail.

Is there a good place for luggage storage in Chamonix?
@57hours Жыл бұрын
Usually your hotel for the first night or two will work with you on luggage storage.

Hi. I have a good opportunity to finally do the TMB this year. Can you please tell me if ticks are a problem for hikers on the TMB? Also, is it advisable to book the refugios earlier? I was planning to stay in campsites.
@57hours Жыл бұрын
Hi! Here’s the intel on ticks. Ticks are mostly found in long grass or tall vegetation. Wear thick socks and check yourself after a walk to see if there are any on you. If there are, remove them with tick tweezers and you will be fine! Always book early. This is a popular hike and lots of folks aiming for the same spots!

Hi, is this tour for advance hikers?
@57hours Жыл бұрын
Even though Tour du Mont Blanc is not technically difficult, it is generally recommended for those with at least an extensive experience of longer day hikes on mountain trails and great fitness. You can expect up to 3,000ft of daily ascent and descent and hiking 10 miles on average for 8 or 10 consecutive days. Keep in mind that hiking can be made difficult because of changing weather. However, you will be able to take many breaks and your guide will adjust the route if it gets too strenuous for your group. Due to some more exposed sections, the tour is not recommended for those with severe fear of heights.

Nice presentation. You should consider superimposing the names of the places she names. I can't catch any of these French names! Also flashing back to a close-up of the map showing where the specific section is.
