"Sub" does not mean substitute. It means subordinate to the prime (or principle) contractor.

The only problem I see with this equation is that let’s say that the profit margin is 1000 dollars the subcontractor will be underpaid which could lead to cutting conners and eventually lose the account. I think best way is to know how much is going to cost to do the job and how much profit there is. It just better businesses to split some of the profit.

There's a company in my area that sells access to their contracts by 3.5x the monthly pay of the contract, but they only take 17%. They guarantee contracts to never pay less than $21/ hr, guarantee their contract income for 1.5 years no matter what happens to the contract, and they even help you in getting your license and insurance. Is that worth it? They are not a franchise company.
