heres what you need to hit cannons on choppy waves: lower than 100 ping

I think that lower ping helps, but for the most part ping only affects loading the cannons, once you get used to the delay before firing the cannon you can cannon just as well on ping!

Based, the main thing for chains is shooting them slowly and consciously adjusting based on the last chainshot. And sometimes shooting them lower or higher depending on how they feel/if they are hitting.

2:22 i disagree. I slowed your video and you pointed to the wrong patch of grass. Players are heavier then chains. The reason why you point slightly up when shooting a player, contrary to chains that need to be pointed higher is because when you shoot a player you don't wanna hit the ship anymore. By shooting the player you are better off shooting slightly upper then the balls, because you will be shoot lower do to be heavy and slide in the water. In other hand, when you want to demast them, it is obvious you have to point much higher then players. But players are heavier then chains.

You missed the most important bit. Raising the canon above 45° from horizontal will not net you any more distance. Yeah, quadratic equations are useful but gaining a feel for how each shot will act and the lead/lag required for each situation is more important. I've seen many players waste cannon balls at max range when they are better off waiting for a better target. I'm not talking about those who fire one or two cannon balls just gauging range but those who fire 100 cannon balls just to get 1 lucky hit.

You’re absolutely right on the 45 degrees part, however I still think it’s worth shooting cannons at max range, (so long as you have plenty) as the occasional hit doesn’t do you any harm and you’ll only improve!

@@massivespongeold true, but if you're just wildly firing at max range you're just wasting cannon balls. With the first few shots you should be able to tell if the other ship is within range. Ideally you want the enemy ship within about 75% of max range because of the effect of the waves.
