Thanks, Todd. The weakening of the grip reducing the clubhead turning over is really going to help me. I will often try to hit a fade, but I end up flipping the head over too quickly and hit it left. The last tip is very interesting!

Todd thanks for this vid lesson, very helpful I need this as my home course has many holes that favour a fade and I usually hook it when I have been trying to power fade it. Cheers!

I’ve really been struggling with a hook. Watched this video two nights ago and went out for a quick practice sesh and worked on these tips especially the suggestion to grip firmly with three fingers on the left hand. Played today, missed left one time just barely and tied my all time lowest round. Seriously, thank you. I suddenly have confidence that the left miss is behind me.

I've started gripping tight to stop hooking and it works, I also hit fades now, same technique, I try to hold off and not let the club release. I feel like I have more control and can take more aggressive lines. Thanks!

I'm a senior golfer in my mid seventies, I play off a nine handicap. Through high school I had the most delightful fade, that was my shot ,, well controlled. Into my twenties I learned how to draw the ball ,,,, simply put, I've been fighting the hook for years. I can shoot some good numbers when the hook has take n a " break " so to speak. Nothing would make me happier that to have my nice wee fade again, especially off the tee.

It's funny that I watched this because I have a power banana slice, lol. I am glad I did because you said near the end the tip about how to create the power fade is by tightening the grip with the last 3 fingers. This may be my problem in that my last 3 fingers are too tight, causing my slice. Thanks for the insight.

I love the fade with driver. I can swing faster and get more ball speed with this swing. The only problem is that it spikes my spin, so I'm accurate but without much distance. I just haven't figured out how to hit a fade that is a true "power" fade with mid/low spin.
@USGOLFTVshow
@USGOLFTVshow Жыл бұрын
Good call out, the power fade is useful for higher swing speeds. It will kick up the spin rate however like you said.

I used to hit a fade very consistently. I took some lessons and now I can’t hit a fade anymore, I’ll set up left of target opened up, and I still tend to draw or hook the ball. Will the three finger tip help with that?

This is the shot shape I have been playing with some minor 'misses'. I have been opening my stance but have received conflicting opinions on aiming the club head at the start. Should I be aiming at my starting point or the intended target/finishing point?
@USGOLFTVshow
@USGOLFTVshow 3 жыл бұрын
Todd Goldsmith good question, the ball starts based on where the face is pointing at impact, therefore we like to point the face where you want the ball to start... hope that helps 👍

Tod: For fade ball, please advise if the body alignment is same as the club path. If not, please clarify the relationship between body alignment, target line and club path
@USGOLFTVshow
@USGOLFTVshow 3 жыл бұрын
Good question, a good rule of thumb is to aim your body in the direction you want the club path to swing. Therefor, for a draw swing a slight closed aim is good...the opposite for a fade. Make sense?

Steven Murata good question, most of the time the draw ball will go further because it will have less spin and therefore produce more roll, not 100% of the time, but most often... great questions! 👊

This whole video really missed the point. The reason it's called a "power" fade, is that power is the goal, and the fade is the means to that end. The wrist rotation through the swing adds acceleration. A good instruction video on this would focus on maintaining accuracy while leveraging that extra speed.
