@@LarryCheungGolf Hey Larry, new viewer to your videos but so far REALLY loving and appreciating the instruction. Follow up question about 9 iron swing - I've been reading that for a 9 iron, you almost want to consider it apart of the wedge family in that its good for the 125-90 yard range. If you're using a 9 iron, do you still want to eliminate "hinge" on the 1/2 - 3/4 swing, or would it be best to choke up and full swing?

Great wedge review. I always used a lot of wrist hinge and found I was digging the leasing edge of my wedges into the turf making huge divots. Now by using nearly no wrist hinge the wedge glided thru the turf and I'm hitting better and more constant shots. 👍

i love this. feels like just keeping it simple. reduce variables in the swing so you can establish the base fundamental of just making good contact

Thank you! I've been struggling lately with wedges and I'm now pretty certain it's cuz I'm hinging too much and getting the leading edge into the ground or equator of the ball. Just what you quickly showed around 2:20 how if the shaft lean is too forward, the leading edge is the lowest point, was an a-ha moment for me. To fix things, I kept doing the opposite of what you're saying and pushing my hands further forward, which was obviously not helping!

Great video Larry! Is this straight swing style the best way to swing a wedge or moreso something you are trying to achieve if you are struggling? I'm just thing about the classic Phil Mickelson "hinge and hold" mantra. Is H&H the preferred method maybe within 10-30 yards whereas this straight back is for longer wedge shots?

I don't prefer hinge and hold, obviously it works for some people, if you struggle with your wedge shots, hinge and hold wouldn't be the first thing I would recommend trying haha =P

This truly does work great with wedges. I started feeling thumbs down (no hinge) and the consistency was immediate. It becomes hard to not make good contact.

So, your video on not using hinge with wedges is great. But, I don't get good distance with wedges. If I don't hinge, won't that make my distance even less?

depends on the person but not hinging doesn't mean literally no hinge, it just helps people hinge the right amount in most cases =)

I've got this thing going on lately where I am hitting my full wedge shots very low -- it's bugging the hell out of me! Not stingers or shanks, but about 1/3 of my normal trajectory, going about the required distance (120 yards PW) but rolling off the back of the green -- if hit straight, or in the sand if I push or pull a little. I've tried standing a little closer to the ball which seems to be helping some, but... I'll try hinging less to see what happens. Thanks.

@@LarryCheungGolf It helped big time! Thank you! I was launching those babies today at the range -- PW, AW & SW! I tried to get into a half-swing state of mind while limiting my hinge. Starting with my 9 iron, I started segueing back into a fuller back swing. Thanks again!

Hey mate, any tips or drill that i can do to practice aiming correctly at address, i kept addressing to the right my lead leg alright higher than my other leg, I used i have fear of slice so address more closed but now im able to hit push draw but i have problem in aimming aligning my body correctly to target, helllppppppp plssss

When I'm like 110 out, I can't do the no hinge and get a wedge there. But irons, I will fly the green by a mile at 110. I have a huge gap where I'm lost

Sounds like you need better gapping on your wedges, see if the gap in lofts is proper - sounds like a club issue.
