Hey Paul, nice work. I really like the use and modification of an old handpiece to hold the setting.i might have to borrow that one. I do mine with pitch, a bur for seats and file for the prongs, then pliers and hammer and punch to work the prong down. Great tip on the orientation of the stone facets. Keep up the good work. Austin

I been using hand piece for years to help with martinis but never would have thought to groove the jaws like you did

It's nice if you have an old handpiece you can repurpose. Thanks for watching!

For a second I just thought that this is just like my modified pin vise. Then you used the groove and I practically swooned. One thing that has helped me is lining the setting with sharpie, getting the stone level and giving it a bit of a push. It gives you a clear line where to start and helps avoid a tilted stone. "Helps"

I use that sharpie trick for a lot of stuff. I wish I had thought to include it in the video. I've done so many martini settings I just eyeballed it out of habit.

Thankyou for this! Those great pliers I am going to order, they come in different sizes...do you use the 5 inch one?
@paulsbench2 жыл бұрын
Hi Annie. Yes, I like the 5" best. I have two pair. One pair I half rounded the bottom jaw so I can grab inside the finger hole of a ring without marking it badly.
