What you showed is almost exactly what I have as a few streaks in my marble shower stall (they have been there before we even moved in). I can certainly try your approach, but as a "quicker" fix, what about using an etch remover product (I see Lustro Italiano Etch Remover pops up on youtube) that you just apply and rub in, would that accomplish the same thing or are there disadvantages to that approach?? This is a polishing kit, not a honing kit. There isn't going be a right answer to your question, there are just too many variables involved. It really depends on the current finish you have that you're trying to reproduce. If the total marbled area isn't all that large you're probably better off just finding the grit that produces the honed finish you're looking for and refinish it all together so you don't have to worry about blending any areas together.
