Thank you for this! I'm not a falconer but I'm a writer that's studying the art a little bit for a story. I'm reading the book Falconry and Hawking and I got lost in the terminology. This clears it up _so_ much. Many thanks!

The trick to hooding a falcon is start when they are scared of you and not concentrating on the hood mainly looking at you when you slip it on. In a rolling action and you can slightly roll your wrist a little so she throws her head forward and not pulls it into her shoulders.

The crows are calling that's she's there. She knows. Maybe her call was "the gigs up" or "Yeah yeah yeah, I'm right here. Worry about the man holding me more then myself". Edit: I feel she's on guard because of the crows. She keeps looking in that direction. Her natural state is a predator, and when bird that call her out as danger, she may not want to go blind. Consider this in the trust you have with her.

You are such a wonderful teacher🙏calm, cool and collected in pure wisdom with the perfect touch of humor, am preparing for my apprentice test and am really a visual learner as opposed to all this stinking text! Can't wait to join in the Art of Falconry, thank you.

My falcon tries to fly off once the hood is on,it was usually put on when he got scared of something when we started training. But the manner stayed. How can I reduce that?
