It’s a complete myth that you should scrape off the water in hot weather! It isn’t necessary as it can actually make them hotter

I've heard and read the exact opposite from a lot of vets that work with endurance horses in hot weather. Leaving the water on them traps it in the coat, holding it against the skin, which thanks to horse's great natural insulation uses their body heat to warm it. This is meant as a tactic to keep them warm in rain and snow. However, in hot weather, when the horse's body temperature rises even higher, this becomes counterproductive and can overheat the horse if you leave too much water in the coat.
