+VLSkate it's crazy to me too. The day I filmed was the first time I did one in probably 8 or 9 years.

I remember back in the day a buddy at the skatepark I grew up near said he invented this trick. He called it a drip flip. I was so determined to learn it, and when I finally did I felt so badass. A few years later I discovered your video on your first channel calling it a hospital flip. I havent skated in years but I could probably pull this one off in 5 tries. Really easy once you get it down and feels quite satisfying.

I actually learned how to do varial kickflips the way I like them when I was trying to learn this one. My problem with hospital flips is that I seem to be bringing it back the wrong way. I do the half flip and get the wrap, but then I don't seem to be able to bring the board back horizontally, I just try to do it vertically and it just does this shove-it like motion and the grip side stays facing the ground.

You seem like such an awesome dude. I skated for about ten years, but haven't really been keeping up for the past couple of years, but I still enjoi (see what I did there?) watching your videoes. Keep it up, man. If you ever come by Copenhagen, give me a shout :)

Not sure how possible it would be but a series on skate slang would be cool. If you can find as much info on when it started and why it started like you do with trick histories it would be pretty interesting.

I really enjoy this trick, funny thing is while learning this trick you can also learn front foot late shove at the same time

Rad rat Is it still a hospital flip if you do them front side spin. Like a half front foot impossible.

How do you feel about board size trends? I remember a few years ago everyone rode 7.75. Now everyone usually rides 8. I ride 8.25 but it's pretty common

hapizskate 8 ? are you kidding ? Here , literally everyone rides an 8.5 . I used to ride 8s or 8.125, and I would often hear things like "your board is so small man wtf !" Now I mostly ride 8.25s
@crimson17187 жыл бұрын
PK Boricua anything above 8.3 is theorically awkward for flip tricks
@Dandosa12 жыл бұрын
Dude I use to ride a 7.5, maybe even a 7.25 and I’m so sad bigger boards took over, I stopped skating in 2011 right around the time anything smaller than 8 was hard to find, I always felt the smaller boards were easier to flip, and lighter and could Ollie higher. Bigger boards were nice for transition skating but I hated flips with them.

I cannot do these. Every time I try to half kickflip it ends up as a varial flip
@olliehewson29557 жыл бұрын
Randy Shredmenton pop straight down , if u scoop back it'll go varial man
@daverunstrain7 жыл бұрын
Just like Aron said, it's super hard to get out of that habit lol.
@crimson17187 жыл бұрын
Randy Shredmenton the thing is that you don't "half flip". You Kinda do, but there is literally no flick. It's just like an ollie, where you would slide your foot a little sideways and the board automatically turns upside down. from there you bring it back around .

@Whupsw0w7 жыл бұрын
Interesting, totally not the way i do them. I like to put my feet like I'm about to do a higher ollie, where your front foot is little bit more back, maybe twisted for kickflip a little bit, but not too much. Then I pop and start dragging my front foot up (not down like you said) and a little bit to the side. Right when i feel my board is sucked to my foot (somewhere before the bolts) I wrap it around. Don't try to do a kicflip and then add something to it, it's not gonna work, altough having a good kickflip will help. Think of it as it's own thing. It's one fluid motion. The wraping part is mostly in the anckle. Remeber your back foot is not doing anything but popping straight down. I'm able to get some solid height this way, even when I wrap it verticaly. I might upload a video of me doing it, just for the comparsion. Be sure to search "Adam Zvada casper flip" on yt, that dude got them so well. Good tricktip nevertheless, love your vids .)
