Just got one, good price point. Part of me was disappointed that I couldn't 'set' the desired range.. but then realized with this video that it's already built into the product.. so there was no need to set it. Got myself a Martin D15 and absolutely want to keep this baby in good shape. Thing plays like a dream and I got it for a steal. Thanks for the info

Can you put the device somewhere between the 6th string and the top hole instead of the middle strings?

Just purchased and not happy. I'm using it in a dreadnought acoustic enclosed in a proper fitting case (Gator) and the top of the unit is pressing too tightly against the inside of the case causing it to malfunction. Everytime I open the case neither button will do anything. I am forced to remove the battery, re-insert, and get a reading. I believe that the top of the case is putting constant pressure on the buttons while the case is closed.

For some reason in some areas traveling too distilled water is not a thing. Can I just use filtered water?

The sponge is designed to be a non drip sponge and should have no issues leaking. We recommend when fully saturating the sponge to then give it a slight squeeze to remove any excess water before adding the saturated sponge to Humitar.

Just got mine. Utah is very dry. I’ve used alternative products and am anxious for this trial. I use the “salt test” method to verify accuracy of hygrometers as they tend to vary. This test is recommended every six months by some accounts. Is there any chance of the meter coming out of calibration?

It really is disconcerting that when you insert this device, it stretches the strings apart so drastically. I can see that it's happening in this video, too. That seems like a bad idea, and that the lateral stress could end up damaging the structural integrity of the guitar. What's going on with that?

The Humitar ONE slightly pushes the strings aside. Strumming and bending the strings is also stretching the strings and will not compromise the integrity of the guitar.

How long after placing hygrometer in guitar does it give accurate reading?

The hygrometer reads every 20 seconds but you need to give it some time to acclimate to the environment and how dry the conditions are. for initial use we recommend to put the Humitar ONE in the soundhole to get your initial reading of the instrument to see where your humidity levels out are at. From there you will determine if it needs moisture and you can insert the wet sponge and monitor the hygrometer to make sure your in the safe zone and continue monitoring the hygrometer reading.

I just took my guitar out the case and the humidifier says 34% What do I do

Hi, Since you are under the recommended 40-55%, you need to rehydrate the sponge. Using a clean work surface and clean hands, simply remove the Humid-i-Bar sponge, soak it in distilled water and you’re back in action.

Do I add less water if it’s over 60%? Or add more water when it’s under 45%?

Keep the sponge wet. The percent of water will change as it humidifies. It is most important to monitor your humidity with our Hone Hygrometer MN312 to stay in the safe zone. You may need need to remove it for a while if the humidification gets too high.
