I used your tactic of hunting lots of spots until you find some that want to play. This was my 4th year hunting turkey with no success. Well the last morning I had, I didn't want to get up but forced myself. And I am glad I did, I doubled that morning best feeling ever.

That’s what my dad said but I got up 6am 2 days ago and didn’t hear a thing but the day before found hatched turkey egg shells but sadly didn’t hear or see anything while I was out there till 6am to 11am

My first ever turkey hunt will be during spring season. Mind you I’m 17 turning 18 in March, so I will be able to hunt by myself legally. I have little to no idea of what to expect, I will be using a 20 gauge with a modified choke on it and 2 3/4” #6 shot or 7 1/2. I was wondering what you think is the best way to practice my calls on the box call. I know what a turkey sounds like and think that I could get one in but I’m not sure, any thoughts. Also, I have heard that they like wide open spaces where they can see everything clearly and where there are a lot of bugs like fields and streams, so since they can see so well, is it really necessary to go out and get a ground blind or will sitting still with plain old camo work. I have so many questions, but I’m gonna cut them off here, so if you could be so kind as to help me out and answer these, I would really appreciate it. Thank you and happy hunting

Sorry I'm a little late, but 7 and 1/2 will be pretty small for taking them down. Here in NY you actually have to have 2, 3 or 4. I've shot one with 8 before, and it wasn't wonderful...

It really depends on what you are looking for but there are two that I use a ton. For cellular cams the tactacam reveals, for cheap cameras I like Tasco cams from Walmart. They run like 28$ and perform pretty well.

I live in NY, and one thing I can say is that NY birds are by far the most stubborn turkeys I’ve ever encountered. I’ll call they’ll respond and then they’ll go quiet and NEVER come in. Or worse, I’ll call they’ll respond but keep moving further away while they gobble. Any tips?

Where I hunt I hardly see turkey or deer I live in eastern Kentucky do you think they ain’t over by my hunting spot or do you think coyotes have them scared to go anywhere there is a lot of coyotes
