I finally figured out what font was on a business card using this app. Works well when the font is large. Smaller font was a challenge but I can understand why given pixelation in camera for small fonts. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, it can take a little more perseverance when you have to work with a small image/font size.

Yeah, it can be a useful one if your font is a better known or more widely used font - but unfortunately it usually fails miserably whenever it comes to moderatly obscure ones, let alone really obscure ones. Sure, that's about the same with all the other similar apps and services - there are simply too many fonts and typefaces around, and a huge lot are moderately-to-totally obscure and a lot of others are clones of well known ones modified to a degree, so it's hardly a "fault" of the app - I just though it should be noted here that users shouldn't get their hopes very high if it's not a popular font. It can find it - but chances are it won't.

I get a lot of really low Res crap sent to me so sometimes Identifont is more helpful. Usually WTF is pretty good though and if the app doesn't get it right and you can wait a wee while; the wtf site allows you to upload the source image to their forum and that can also bear fruit.

Yeah, there are a few great sites and I might do a comparison video of them all in future. The WTF forum is excellent. Soooooo many typography geeks on there that I've never been let down. Someone has always managed to identify a font for me. Thanks for posting mate :)

There are lots of free fonts out there that allow you to use them for personal projects. But if you are going to be using fonts for clients, or projects where you will be making money, you will need to pay for the font most of the time so that you can get a commercial license to profit from using that font.

What the whatthefont.com I find to be disappointingly inaccurate considering it points to (expensive) fonts you can buy. It's about 50/50 hit.
