I have a tree identification mystery for you: after moving from AZ to Idaho I enjoy the green pine trees in the city I live. I became obsessed with a beautiful tree that one of my neighbors have on her property that I drive by every day. I researched and became convinced that it is a sub-alpine fir tree. I looked at the local nursery to see if we could buy one but their prices were $200 for one tree and I just couldn’t spend that kind of money. I’m on 10 acres with hundreds of trees. I decided I would try to get the cones /seeds to grow my own. After 3.5 years I finally spoke to the neighbor and got a bunch. The little seeds came out and I have them saved to start the process. I want to do it right so I posted on a Facebook group who grow trees and surprise surprise they tell me my cones are from a spruce and not the sun-alpine fir. I saw one cone come from this tree when the neighbor shook it so I know my cones came from that tree. Could it be a hybrid betweeen species?

This is great! Thank you for making it (and the maple one too!). I am also trying to find the local indigenous names for trees of North America. I know there would be different names because there are many different languages. Know of any resources for that?
