Most frequent breakdowns in the hydraulically assisted steering.
This tutorial begins by mentioning the route of the hydraulic oil, which begins in the tank, from there it goes through the intake hose, reaches the hydraulic steering pump, then goes through the high pressure hose to the rack and from there returns to the tank again. and thus the hydraulic oil travel cycle is given, it is mentioned that a frequent failure in vehicles of this type is the hardness when turning the steering wheel, which is important to determine the cause if it is the hydraulic pump or the gear rack. In order to save time, in the workshops it is suggested to disconnect the high pressure hose with the engine off, instead a pressure gauge should be connected immediately when the engine is turned on, at idle the pressure gauge must indicate approximately 100 bars for the steering wheel to work direction in a normal or smooth way, if it has less, that is, more or less 50 bars, the steering pump must be repaired or changed.
If the pump generates 100 bars then it is understood that the cause is not the hydraulic pump, the fault must be located in the steering rack and for this it must be replaced by a new one or repaired, as the cause of that hardness it may be that there is a joint broken or worn o-ring or also the cylinder shows wear at the height of the o-rings, another cause of the hardness of the flywheel when turning is that the main shaft o-ring is broken, in which case it should be changed, another frequent failure in this type of vehicles is buzzing when turning the direction and for this there are several causes of these buzzes, one can be dirt in the tank, clamps or inlet hose in poor condition or kinked, it can also be a worn bearing, paddles or worn internal components, this is explained with respect to hydraulic-type breakdowns, finally it is mentioned that there are other breakdowns that are of a mechanical nature that also affect not the direction, which are explained will be in another video.
